Research Interests: ∎Study of Immunologic response to food derived antigens and its relation to pathologic disorders including several cancer types, autoimmune and metabolic disorders. Computer-aided investigation of the related mechanism based on protein structure relationship and protein-protein interactions. Investigation of their use as disease prognosis or monitoring tool.∎Effect of the Diet, Life Style and Environmental Factors at the biological markers of healthy individuals.∎Correlation of biochemical markers with disease pathophysiology ∎Molecular modeling applications in the investigation of Disease pathophysiology and Therapy. ∎ Computer-Aided Rational design of specific enzyme inhibitors with application in Diagnosis and Therapy, biological activity testing of new compounds and natural products as enzyme inhibitors with therapeutic and diagnostic interest. ∎ Enzyme Inhibitors with Applications in Diagnosis and Therapy: Phosphatase Inhibitors: SHP-2 (JMML), PTP1B, LAR (Diabetes II), etc. Squalene synthase inhibitors: SQS (dyslipidemia) inhibitors of COX-1/2, LOX (anti-inflammatory agents), HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and integrase inhibitors, etc. Teaching in Undergraduate courses: Biochemistry (ATEITH, IHU), Clinical Chemistry (ATEITH, IHU), Biochemical Pharmacology – Toxicology (IHU), Enzymology-Enzyme Engineering, Cell Culture and Laboratory Animals, Molecular Diagnostics, Medical Biotechnology (ATEITH), Enzymology (Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly).
