Structured interviews were carried out in 2009 with 360 GPs selected by cluster random sampling. Patients with psychiatric disorders were estimated to be up to 10% of the daily caseload according to 71.8% of doctors. Two-thirds of GPs were unaware of the ICD-10 diagnostic criteria for depression and anxiety disorders. Benzodiazepines were the most recognized category of medication (75.3%) and were the most commonly used medication for all mental health conditions. Fewer GPs were familiar with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (35.1%) or tricyclic antidepressants (20.2%). Lack of time and patients' financial constraints were reported to be barriers to care. Most GPs (69.2%) had not received any recent medical education about mental health problems. Gaps in GPs' knowledge about the management of mental disorders have implications for the r...

Griseb. (Amaranthaceae) in Swiss albino mice. Antin(o)Ciceptive activity was evaluated by attenuation of the number of constrictions in acetic acid-induced gastric pain, while antihyperglycemic activity was evaluated through oral glucose tolerance tests in glucose-loaded mice. Dose-dependent and significant inhibitions in the number of constrictions were seen in mice administered with extract at doses of 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg per kg body weight. At these concentrations, the numbers of constrictions were reduced, respectively, by 31.0, 32.7, 37.9 and 44.8%. In comparison, a standard antinociceptive drug, aspirin reduced the number of constrictions by 37.9 and 67.2%, when administered at doses, respectively, of 200 and 400 mg per kg body weight. The extract also exhibited dose-dependent and significant antihyperglycemic activi...

These result obtained revealed that the bark extract possess pharmacological activity against diarrhea and may possibly explain the use of the plant in traditional medicine.

The effectiveness of an amine-based liquid anti-stripping (AS) agent, AD-here HP Plus, on the Advera-modified binder was also studied. Furthermore, the effect of reduced oxidative ageing on Advera-modified binder was investigated. The optimum dosage of Advera was found to be 6% (by the mass of the binder), which did not alter the base binder's PG. A fairly small amount (0.5%) of the AS agent was found to be effective in increasing the fatigue and low temperature resistances of the Advera-modified binder. A notable reduction in the high PG temperature was observed when the Advera-modified binder was aged (short term) at 135°C, and this observation is in agreement with the test results of the Advera mix, which showed excessive rutting and moisture susceptibility. Test data from a rotational viscometer showed no reduction in the viscosity and the production temperature of the Advera mix thereof, indicating the need of an alternate laboratory test method to simulate the working mechanism of Advera. The findings of this study are expected to enhance the inventory of rheological database and help in implementing WMA mixes in Oklahoma and elsewhere.
