Keeping this in view, the present study focuses its attention on investigating the function of employee engagement, a positive individual-level behavioral construct in occupational psychology towards increased organizational effectiveness. Data was collected from 152 managers in Indian IT organizations and the results of regression analysis depicted a positive association between the elite study variables as expected. The study posits employee engagement as a substantial element to the sustenance of organizational performance and growth, and further, establishes the need to develop conditions via positive organizational–climate for

Using the data of 200 police employees this study has examined the effect of quality of work life on psychological wellbeing of police employees, leading to life satisfaction. The obtained results from Pearson's r and stepwise multiple regression analysis indicate that the dimensions of quality of work life have significant and positive contribution in maintaining psychological wellbeing (autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life, and self-acceptance), of police employees, leading to life satisfaction. The findings provide valuable implication and suggestions that more researches are required to consider that positive experiences and support at workpl...

This study further intends to provide a framework to understand and predict factors affecting organizational citizenship performance in the Indian IT sector. Design/methodology/approach The analysis is based on a sample of 464 IT employees working in 29 information-intensive global organizations, and the statistical method employed is structural equation modeling. Findings The results of the present study demonstrated the significance of employees’ perceptions of PC through which HPHRPs can boost employees’ WE, which, in turn, has come out to be the principal mechanism through which HPHRPs and PC have impact on OCBs. Research limitations/implications The results have established a platform where HR managers can be motivated to open up new avenues to emp...

The study is based on cross-sectional questionnaire survey responses from 304 Indian employees working in ITES. We conducted confirmatory factor analyses to compare the fit of a three-factor model to that of an alternative one-factor model of UWES-9 followed by an analysis of discriminant validity of UWES-9 in relation to organisational citizenship behaviour questionnaire (OCBQ) and organisational commitment questionnaire (OCQ) using chi-square difference tests. A comprehensive review of validation studies of UWES across other nations of the world in different time, culture and context represents instability of its factorial structure. Empirical evidences demonstrate a better fit of multidimensional structure of UWES-9 in comparison to that of unidimensional solution for the construct in the Indian context and support the discriminant validity of UWES-9 against OCQ and OCBQ. The study provides first direct evidence for the psychometric properties and unique identification of the UWES-9 in the Indian context.

The present study endeavors to explore the mediating effect of PWB on the relationship between organizational justice and organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). The study has been conducted on a sample of 200 employees working in banking and automobile industries. The collected data are pertinent to Pearson r and hierarchical regression analysis. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship among the key study variables. The article concludes that the key study variables can prove to be an organizational milieu to enable employees to cultivate a worthwhile life.

We developed and tested a mediation model associating between the latent constructs of organizational effectiveness. Our model evaluates the premise that employees’ favorable perceptions of the organizational settings are directed towards increased organizational effectiveness through an individual-level construct, work engagement. Overall, data from 300 employees in different service organizations in India support this model. Data analysis, performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach, revealed that work engagement fully mediates the relationship between psychological climate and organizational effectiveness, suggesting that employees’ engagement with their work plays a significant role in shaping the effectiveness of their organizatio

However, the concept is still in its infancy and there is a dearth of empirical studies in the area. The present study attempts to explore the relationship between PGI and Personality Type A/B. To serve the purpose, the study measures the Personality Type A/B and PGI of first year (N = 179) B.Tech students at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Data was collected by the questionnaire method using Type A/B Behavioral Pattern Scale (ABBPS) (Dhar and Jain, 2001) and Personal Growth Initiative Scale (PGIS) (Robitschek, 1998). The analysis was done by applying statistical techniques, correlation and regression analysis with the help of SPSS 16.0 version. The findings of this study provide the first evidence of the influence of Personality Type A/B on PGI. More specifically, the findings indicate that Personality Type A has positive and signific...

The sample of the study comprised of total 100 managers from BHEL (n=63), a public sector organization and DABAR India Ltd. (n=37), a private sector organization. A standardized questionnaire was used, comprising of 40 items, developed by the Udai Pareek. The results of the study revealed that on dimensions of organization culture like openness, confrontation, trust, authenticity, proaction, autonomy, collaboration and experimentation, the score of managers from two organizations did not differ significantly. In order to draw broader conclusions, it was necessary to explore alternative explanations and conduct further empirical research in other industries. Multinationals interested in developing industry in India could benefit from information given in this paper about the organization culture and its different work related aspect. This study contributed to the understanding of factors influencing culture in public and private organizations.

In this direction, the present paper reviews the organisational paradigms of employees' work engagement and attempts to relate it with organisational effectiveness. The study was designed to generate and test a hypothesised model colligating between the constituents of engagement namely vigour, dedication, and absorption and the organisational effectiveness. A survey-based study was conducted in 27 IT organisations across the national capital region (NCR), India. The sample size for the study comprised 304 Indian IT professionals. Data analysis, performed using structural equation modelling (SEM) approach, revealed that work engagement in terms of vigour, dedication, and absorption is significantly associated with organisational effectiveness in that it also entails a positive impact upon the effectiveness of a firm. The association is further explored to highlight the affective-motivational underpinnings through which employees' increased level of engagement is likely to elevate organisational effectiveness..
