The paper industry released huge quantity of toxic effluent into the surrounding environment which inhibits the photosynthetic activity of aquatic biota, crop growth, etc., and thus has adverse effects on health, soil properties, and relative mobility in the soil profile. Hence, several aspects for management of pulp and paper effluent such as chemical, biological and mechanical treatments, recycling, monitoring, toxicology, environmental impact, and sustainable practice have been carried out. Further, various strategies need to be developed to determine the nature and extent of contaminants to natural resources. Presently, bioremediation methods using terrestrial and aquatic plants as well as microorganisms are considered more favorable for treating various industrial effluents. Although all bioremediation processes using microorganisms are appropriate for wastewater treatment, the integrated approach of yeast treatment process showed higher contaminant removal efficiencies with reduced energy costs and sustainable production of biodiesel. Thus, the utmost need of the hour is to synchronize environmental friendliness by using these methods over conventional methods owing to their reduced chemical and biological sludge production, more efficiency, and low cost.

Modified bubble formation behavior in horizontal liquid cross-flow after addition of drag reducing agent was investigated. Shadowgraph images of bubbles evolving at an orifice were taken using a high-speed camera; bubble size and velocity were measured. High molecular weight cationic polyacrylamide was used as a drag reducing agent. Increase in the size of bubble with increase in concentration was observed. Particle image velocimetry in the upstream flow with drag reducing agent provided velocity profile and turbulence characteristics showing of the role of mean flow on increasing the bubble size.Graphical abstract

Compared with the SG, DG organic transistor shows improved performance because of the presence of two channels formed in DG device by charge carrier modulation. Furthermore, this study introduces all-p organic inverter circuits with diode-load and zero-V gs-load logic configurations using SG and DG structures. Static and dynamic behaviour of all-p organic inverter circuits is compared with addressing the effect of both the devices. A maximum voltage gain (AV ) of 16 is obtained in zero-V gs-load logic using DG-OTFT, whereas SG-OTFT configuration produces a maximum AV of about 6.27. Significant improvements in propagation delay of 66% for diode-load and 53% for zero-V gs-load logic using DG-OTFT are obtained as compared with SG-OTFT.

Chitosan-based hydrogel polymeric beads have been extensively studied as micro- or nano-particulate carriers in the pharmaceutical and medical fields, where they have shown promise for drug delivery as a result of their controlled and sustained release properties, as well as biocompatibility with tissue and cells. To introduce desired properties and enlarge the scope of the potential applications of chitosan, graft copolymerization with natural or synthetic polymers on it has been carried out, and also, various chitosan derivatives have been utilized to form beads. The desired kinetics, duration, and rate of drug release up to therapeutical level from polymeric beads are limited by specific conditions such as beads material and their composition, bead preparation method, amount of drug loading, drug solubility, and drug polymer interaction. The present review summa...

The present study reports the improvement in surface and strength properties of packaging-grade paper made with rice straw pulp using biopolymers, chitosan, oxidized starch, and surface sizing added at the wet end of the paper machine. Use of chitosan at all doses from 0.5 to 10 kg/ton enhanced important surface and strength properties of paper. The breaking length, tear index, burst index, ring crush strength, stretch, tensile energy absorption index, and Taber stiffness of the paper with 10 kg/ton of chitosan as a wet-end additive showed 22%, 14%, 20%, 59%, 16%, 44%, and 48% improvement, respectively, in comparison to control, (i.e, without its addition). The Cobb60 was also reduced by 45%, showing better resistance to water in comparison to rice straw paper alone. The effects of chitosan added at ...

Various OTFT structures are simulated using organic TFT display module. The transistor sizes for all the proposed structures are kept same, for valid comparison among them. The characteristic parameters of organic transistors are evaluated from output and transfer characteristics of different structures. Characteristics parameters have been evaluated in terms of mobility, on/off current ratio, threshold voltage, Sub-threshold slope, transconductance and drain current. OTFTs are considered as promising devices for future development of low-cost and large-area electronics applications such as flexible displays and sensors. Further this paper thoroughly discusses the overall performance and applications of OTFTs in various fields.
