Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Chik graduated with Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Faculty of Arts, Kuwait University and Master of Arts from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, and Doctor of Philosophy from Faculty of Arts, University of Alexandria, Egypt. He was admitted to the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs, State of Kuwait as an Administrative officer (1980 until 1984) and thereafter, he joined the Language Centre of International Islamic University Malaysia in 1984. In 1990 he was transferred to the newly established Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) as Founding Head of Department of Arabic Language and Literature. He has been in various academic administrative posts more than 38 years in Malaysia (UM and IIUM) and Brunei Darussalam (UBD) as Head of Department, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Dean for Student Affairs, and Dean for General Affairs, Founding Head of Arabic Department and Deputy Director for Language Centre (UBD), Deputy Dean KIRKHS for Academic Affairs, Deputy Dean for Inter-Disciplinary Studies and Human Development, as well as Director of IIUM International Sdn. Bhd. of IIUM Holdings.He is currently an Associate Professor at the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences since 2009. He has authored, co-authored and/or edited 21 books and 23 book chapters on Arabic Language Education, Curriculum Development, Arabic Textbook Evaluation amongst them:Ta’lim Al-lughah al-‘arabiyah li aghradh khassah: tajarib wa taqwim. إن الأدب عمل فني خاص في إطار اللغة، وعلى القارئ أن يتعمق في فهم مايقرأ؛ للوقوف على أسرار اللغة، و... more إن الأدب عمل فني خاص في إطار اللغة، وعلى القارئ أن يتعمق في فهم مايقرأ؛ للوقوف على أسرار اللغة، و ليتسنّى له التمكن من قنص معانيها وإدراك محتوى خزائنها، واختيار ما يلزمه من أساليبها لتناسب موقفه وحديثه، ولأن لغتنا العربية لغة تقوم على قواعد وأصول، فإن فهمها والعمل بها يصبحان شرطين لازمين للكتابة، وإن قيمة اللغة تكمن فيما تبعثه فينا من قيم عُليا ، وما تمدّنا به من علم وحكمة وتاريخ وأدب ولغة وتشريع، وتساعدنا على تنمية الروابط وتقوية الأواصر، وحسبنا أن نقدم لأولئك الناطقين بلغة الضاد، وغير الناطقين بها في هذه الصفحات من هذا الكتاب؛ فصولا متفرقة يجمعها غرض واحد وهدف واحد، وعسى بذلك أن نكون قد قمنا ببعض ما يجب علينا نحو هذه اللغة وآدابها، ولعل من أهم ما يحق لنا أن نفخر به في هذه التجربة الفريدة من نوعها؛ هو هذا التعاون بروح الفريق الواحد، والحرص البالغ، ومجاهدة النفس لاستقطاع أكبر همة، في أقصر وقت حتى يظهر هذا الكتاب على أجمل شكل، وأكمل مضمون، فقد جمّعنا في هذه القطوف خلاصة كل ما يتطلبه الذي ينشد المعرفة ليكون هذا الكتاب أقدر على التعلّم، والمؤانسة، والاستمتاع. إن مجال البحث اللغوي رحب ولا ينتهي بمقدار؛ مادام الإنسان يقرأ ويكتب، وحسبنا أن يكون البحث العلمي معبّرا عن تجربة عملية، أو نظرية علمية؛ تسلك طريق التعبير المباشر الواضح، المحدد بحدود المنطق العقلي والعلمي، فإن العمل المعبر عن التجربة الإنسانية في الحقل الأدبي يسلك طريق الأسلوب الفني في التعبير، ومن هنا انطلقت فكرتنا لهذا الكتاب، لحاجتنا إلى الاطلاع على هذه التجربة المهمة في زمنها، المتجددة دائما بإعادة قراءتها، وتأملها وتحليلها؛ وذلك بانتقاء ما أفرزته هذه الضرورة، في جمع هذه المنتخبات من بحوث قيّمة في اللغة والأدب، وتعليم اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها؛ لما لدورها الكبير في إثراء اللغة العربية، هذه اللغة التي تنهل من المعجم العربي، ويظهر ذلك جليا، في طريقة إعداد بحوث هذا الكتاب وكتابتها، واستنتاجاتها؛ حيث تبدو المواضيع موزعة بانتظام، يغلب عليها الطبع، وتبتعد عن التكلف، لما لها من واقعية ثابتة مجربة؛ على الطلاب الدارسين في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بماليزيا، وهكذا ارتاينا أن نزين هذا الكتاب بمواضيع قيمة، يأخذ أولها بيد آخرها، لتسهم في تشييد الكيان الفكري لجيل كبير من القراء، متنوع الثقافة والفكر. وكل ما نرجوه أن نكون قد قمنا ببعض ما يجب علينا نحو هذه اللغة وآدابها، وإن لم تكن هذه الصفحات كبيرة في حجمها؛ إلا أنها تحمل في طياتها علما نبتغي به إثبات الحقيقة في تأمل الذاكرة الثقافية، التي تقوم اللغة باستيعابها، وإعادة التعبير عنها، والعمل على تقديم الأساليب المختلفة لإنتاج أفكارها، فهي لاتجمد عند أسلوب واحد، وإنما تهيء فرص العطاء المتعددة، فالجميل في الأمر؛ أن هنالك مواضيع انطلقت من التنظير إلى الدراسة التطبيقية بدافع التطوير وحل مشكلة الطالب، بوصفها دراسات إحصائية؛ استنتجت من مشكلاتها ومواضيعها الحلول القيمة. وعلى الرغم من أن هذه العملية استغرقت من الجهد الكثير، إلا أنها كانت مثمرة ومجدية. إن هذا المشروع البحثي يسعى إلى التجديد والابتكار على المستوى اللغوي والأدبي، جنح أهله إلى دخول عالم الكتابة بمواضيع سهلة التركيب، واضحة الفكرة، وطَرق موضوعات علمية قيّمة، تنسجم وأحداث المجتمع التعليمي في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بماليزيا، وتعبر عن تجارب الطلبة، والأساتذة في أغراض متعددة، ما بين الفني، والتحليلي الإحصائي والدراسات التي أنتجت لنا قطوفا جماعية؛ توصلت إلى نتائج موضوعية تهم متعلم اللغة العربية، وتعطي حلولا له

The objectives of this paper are two folds: firstly, to highlight the studies using authentic inp... more The objectives of this paper are two folds: firstly, to highlight the studies using authentic input in teaching second language skills, and secondly to offer ways to deal with authentic materials in Arabic as a Second Language (ASL). For this purpose, the paper analyses related literature review and give some suggestions on how to design ASL teaching materials for learners of writing skills. The literature review showed the concern of second language practitioner as well as scholars of the field. In contrast, studies related to ASL in this topic very rare. There are 4 steps to be adopted for the purpose of linking authentic material input with enhancing writing skills output. So, this on-going research will be benefited from this review and soon apply in ASL setting. The paper also highlights the strengths of authentic input in teaching languages as well as putting some technical advice and suggestions to improve the teaching material selection.

This experience is far away from denying the identities of the others but rather it nurtured these differences and enabled the diverse races and religions to contribute to a common cause to develop knowledge, culture and civilization. يتطرق هذا البحث إلى برنامج تدريب معلمي اللغة العربية أثناء الخدمة بالمعاهد الدينية الإسلامية بولا... more يتطرق هذا البحث إلى برنامج تدريب معلمي اللغة العربية أثناء الخدمة بالمعاهد الدينية الإسلامية بولاية ملاكا. وقد اشتمل هذا البحث على قسمين: في القسم الأول رسمت الباحثة إطارا نظريا للدراسة؛ حيث تتخذ فلسفة التربية الماليزية وضوابطها معلما بارزا داخل هذا الإطار؛ أما زوايا هذا الإطار الأربعة فتشغلها قضايا تربوية أخرى تتمثل في تدريب المعلمين العام، ومفهوم تدريب المعلمين وأغراضه، وكيفية القيام بعملية التدريب وحدود المسؤولية، ومعهد بانغي لتدريب المعلمين بماليزيا. في القسم الثاني من هذا البحث تتعرض الباحثة إلى برنامج تدريب اللغة العربية في ولاية ملاكا، مع الإشارة إلى وضع تعليم اللغة العربية وبرنامج تدريبها في ولاية ملاكا، ثم تليها خطة برنامج مثالي للتدريب في المعاهد الماليزية من اقتراح الباحثة.

The Role of Debate in Developing Communication Skills of Students Learning Arabic as a Second Language: Malaysia as a Model

This research deals with the problem of the difficulties faced by students in speaking Arabic as ... more This research deals with the problem of the difficulties faced by students in speaking Arabic as a second language fluently, confidently and efficiently, despite spending a long time learning it. This is due to several factors, most notably the lack of parallel activities, the insufficient qualification of teachers in schools and their lack of benefit of relevant trainings and workshops, which negatively affects the quality of performance, productivity, and the production of learning outcomes, especially with regard to enhancing conversation and communication skills. It looks forward to examining the status of debate as a sophisticated template for improving communication and conversation skills, and an effective tool for developing them by reviewing the experience of the debate club at the International Islamic University Malaysia, and its role in developing students’ speaking skills, by adopting the analytical descriptive approach, based on the information and findings concluded from the interview with the senior members of the Arabic debating club and the questionnaire distributed. One of the most important results regarding the relationship between the effectiveness of the debate club and the benefit of members in developing conversational and communication skills has become clear through the analysis of the questionnaire that there is a strong relationship between the two.

Kajian ini memberi fokus kepada maklum balas organisasi terhadap prestasi pelajar dan pengurusan ... more Kajian ini memberi fokus kepada maklum balas organisasi terhadap prestasi pelajar dan pengurusan program praktikum, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Sebanyak 438 buah organisasi daripada pelbagai latar belakang industri telah mengambil bahagian dalam kajian ini. Kutipan data dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan soal selidik yang merangkumi lima komponen utama iaitu; profil responden dan organisasi, prestasi pelajar, prestasi pengurusan program praktikum, perbandingan prestasi dengan institusi pengajian lain dan kesesuaian program praktikum. Secara umumnya, kajian ini mendapati organisasi terlibat berpuas hati dengan prestasi pelajar UUM dalam persiapan mereka menempuh alam pekerjaan sebenar. Sistem pengurusan praktikum yang dilaksanakan di Pusat Jaringan Universiti-Industri (UIL) juga dianggap tersusun dan efisien.
