Abstract This paper moves in three topics: first, it explores the historical conditions that have facilitated the emergence of an equity speech under the paradigm of social development called " good life: buen vivir " or Sumak Kawsay, in Ecuador. A second problem attends the framework of discursive practices as " politics of memory " and State speaches regarding the cultural heritage whose purpose is to manage a sort of " national cultural identity " in the Ecuadorian population and therefore they function as technologies of power in terms of what Foucault (2006) called governmentality. Finally we offer some reflections on the prospects of the discourse on multiculturalism and Ecuadorian plurinationality of the " Good Living " in the global era, as well as in the frames of production, circulation and patrimonial consumption as State ideology.
