Anthony Shafton is the author of six books, including a novel from the original Grove Press; two books on dreams published by academic houses, one a survey of contemporary approaches to understanding dreams, the other a cultural study of dreams among African Americans; two critical biographies of artists and writers of Nevada; and a groundbreaking monograph in paleo-psychology published nearly 50 years ago, on the evolution of consciousness, language and art. Shafton is currently working on a new book updating the themes of "Conditions of Awareness" (1976).
