An efficient, convenient, and novel one-pot method of 2,4,5-triaryl-1H-imidazoles synthesis using... more An efficient, convenient, and novel one-pot method of 2,4,5-triaryl-1H-imidazoles synthesis using benzil, arene carbaldehydes, and ammonium acetate, catalyzed by uranyl nitrate hexahydrate [UO2(NO3)2 ·6H2O] supported on acidic alumina and resulting in good to excellent yields under heterogeneous conditions, is reported. Formation of a reactants–catalyst complex was confirmed by UV-VIS spectral data. Antibacterial (MIC) and antioxidant activity of the synthesized compounds was also studied.
A series of N 0-((10-alkyl-10H-phenothiazin-3-yl)methylene)benzohyd-razide have been synthesized ... more A series of N 0-((10-alkyl-10H-phenothiazin-3-yl)methylene)benzohyd-razide have been synthesized via condensation of 10-alkyl-10H-phenothiazine-3-carbaldehyde with different heterocyclic acetohydrazides. The reactions were carried out under both conventional and ultrasonic irradiation conditions. In general, improvement in rates and yields were observed when reactions were carried out under sonication compared to classical synthetic conditions. Structures of all the newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and mass spectra. Antibacterial activities of the synthesized compounds were studied against bacterial strains Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus cereus, and Klebsiella pneumonia. The free radical scavenging activities of synthesized compounds were screened for in vitro antioxidant activity.

The ultrasound irradiation synthesis had shown several advantages such as milder conditions, shorter reaction times and higher yields. The structures of all the newly synthesized compounds have been confirmed by FT-IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and mass spectra.
