En los últimos 10 años en Nicaragua el cambio de uso de suelos, eliminando los bosques y la contaminación irracional de las fuentes por efluentes agropecuarios y agrotóxicos ha demostrado tener efectos sumamente graves. Con los efectos cada vez más evidentes del cambio climático, la situación se ha vuelto dramática. Pero es posible restaurar ecosistemas y en la flora neotropical hay grandes potencialidades, particularmente si rescatamos saberes de pueblos originarios y construimos conocimiento con la investigación científica. Esta es la experiencia del Macizo de Peñas Blancas y del CEN.
