The study informs that language is not merely a medium of communication among people but in certain situations it goes beyond communication and transforms the world of addresser and addressee as well. The present study is qualitative descriptive research in its nature. Austin (1975)'s Speech Act Theory serves as a theoretical framework for the present study. The data was analysed through illocutionary and perlocutionary speech act analysis in order to shed light on the dialogues and utterances of Isma and Aneeka. The findings suggest that utterances and the use of language determines a literary or fictional character successfully.
