The gold standard for the diagnosis of the brosis stage has been a histological liver evaluation based on specimens taken either by a needle biopsy or at operation. Aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the liver brosis stage by utilizing the techniques of advanced ultrasound in patients with chronic liver disease as an non-invasive and reliable alternative to the histological staging in chronic liver diseases by biopsy. Ultrasound assessment for parameters of liver edge, liver surface regularity and parenchymal echotexture using high and low frequency transducers and resultant scoring system depending on the severity of ndings was undertaken. Finally, a cumulative score was assigned by adding the individual ultrasound score of the three parameters. Subsequently, comparison with the histopathological grade of brosis present in each case was carried out. Statistical analysis showed that the parameters of liver edge, surface irregularity, parenchymal echotexture and the cumulative ultrasound score showed sensitivity reaching upto 100% in detecting upto early stages of brosis. The specicity of all these parameters except for parenchymal echotexture ranged from 77.7% to 83.3.%. Also, the negative predictive value of these parameters was reaching upto 100% indicating the role of ultrasound in predicting absence of brosis in patients with accuracy at par with histopathology.

Imaging plays a crucial role in identifying and understanding the anatomical characteristics and guiding appropriate management strategies. We present a series of four cases of PCPC with varied and unexpected clinical presentations along with details of imaging nuances and management implications, emphasizing the importance of radiodiagnosis in guiding appropriate management strategies. From incidental diagnosis in an asymptomatic adult to a symptomatic syndromic child, the PCPC has a wide clinico-radiological spectrum of presentation as well as management challenges.

In this study the local protocols were evaluated , compared with the WHO SSCL and recommendations were implemented. Finally, results were analysed for postoperative complications. Aim & Objective: To assess the effectiveness of WHO surgical safety checklist in reducing post operative complications. Materials and methods: This prospective observational study was done at Army Hospital R &R and Base Hospital Delhi Cantt from Sep 2011 to Mar 2013. The study involved analysing and comparing the pre and post interventional rates of post-surgical complications in 200 patients , where intervention is in the form of implementation of SSCL. Results: Signicant change after implementation of the check list were notes viz. in complication rates, sepsis related mortality and morbidity , post op sepsis. Conclusion: WHO surgical safety checklist is ...
Paraurethral cysts are a rare congenital abnormality presenting as interlabial mass in female neo... more Paraurethral cysts are a rare congenital abnormality presenting as interlabial mass in female neonates. These cysts form due to obstruction of the glandular ductus or cystic degeneration of embryonic remnants of the paraurethral glands. Paraurethral glands and ducts that empty into the vaginal vestibule close to the urethral meatus are rudimentary female homologs of the prostate, and the two largest of these ducts are known as Skene's ducts. The differential diagnosis of paraurethral Skene's duct cysts in newborns includes imperforate hymen, Gardner duct cyst, Mullerian duct cyst, urethral prolapse, rhabdomyosarcoma of the vagina, prolapsed ectopic ureterocele, condyloma, urethral polyp, congenital lipoma and vaginal prolapse. The distinguishing features of paraurethral cysts are the displacement of the urethral meatus by the mass and a cyst containing milky uid. Treatment options vary from observation to surgery. Rarely, Skene's duct cysts require no drainage and resol...
Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation (VGAM) is a rare congenital anomaly and amongst rare cause ... more Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation (VGAM) is a rare congenital anomaly and amongst rare cause of congestive heart failure in the neonatal period carrying high mortality rate. The diagnosis may remain elusive as the clinical picture often mimics congenital cardiac malformation. Patients usually undergo high-risk procedures such as cardiac catheterization to establish a diagnosis. Often, these investigations are inconclusive and can delay correct diagnosis. This study highlights the role of antenatal and follow up Doppler USG which can lead to early diagnosis on the basis of characteristic Doppler ndings in a resource limited peripheral hospital. Various therapeutic options for a VGAM include no treatment, endovascular treatment, open surgery and stereotactic radiosurgery. Timely diagnosis and appropriate therapy especially endovascular management can result in fairly good outcome in these children.

Subjects and Methods: Sixty patients were prospectively studied over 2 years in a tertiary hospital setting and divided into two groups of 30 each. The first group consisted of patients with atherosclerotic plaques with a history of stroke, whereas the second group consisted of 30 patients with atherosclerotic plaques without stroke. Carotid plaques in both groups were studied for plaque length, morphology, and SWE measurements. All data analysis was performed using SPSS software (version 22, IBM SPSS statistics). Results: Both groups showed no statistical difference with respect to comorbidities, addictions, or anthropometry. The internal carotid artery was involved in 24 (80%) and 13 (43.33%) patients in Groups A and B, respectively. Mean length and width of the plaque were more in Group A patients than that of Group B patients on both right and left sides. Proximal stiffness (kpa) was 32.27 and 42.86; mid stiffness was 32.92 and 45.77, while distal stiffness was 26.57 and 38.15 in Groups A and B, respectively. The proximal, mid, and distal stiffness values of the plaque in Group A were less on stroke side as compared to nonstroke side with a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: SWE is a noninvasive, reproducible, and reliable imaging technique which could be used as a tool for the early detection of vulnerable carotid artery plaques.

Methods: The study was a retrospective analysis of 449 chest radiographs(CXRs) obtained from serologically proven symptomatic 312 COVID patients in a tertiary care institute at Mumbai, India. CXRs were conducted as per a hospital approved protocol. The x-rays were analysed by three radiologists for presence of consolidation, ground glass opacities, interstitial opacities and distribution of findings. Results: Out of the total CXRs reviewed, 50.7% were abnormal with 91.7% of them showing the commonest pattern of finding as consolidation. The majority of findings were seen (71.1%) in patients above 50 yrs of age. 84 cases (26.9%) had a serial radiograph follow up mandated by their clinical status. Of these, 75% were abnormal. The...
