This study predicts the long-term performance of an active solar water heating system for hot water applications to Sheik Muhammad Jidda General Hospital Fagge Kano under the weather condition of Kano Nigeria latitude 12.05°N and longitude 8.53°E with total annual global irradiation of 2,201kWh/m 2 using T*Sol Pro 5.5 (R6) design software. The outputs from the software predicted a solar water heating system with a better long-term thermal performance. It was also found that, for the study site of total daily hot water consumption of 5.59m 3 , a total of 31 flat plate collectors with total gross surface area of 31m 2 tilted at an angle 12.05° due south, 3 number of storage tanks with volume of 4.35m 3 , auxiliary heating system and pumps are needed. The best performance occurred in the months of October and November with maximum temperature of 74℃ while the worst month happened to be July with temperature of 44℃.This indicated that, more energy is required from auxiliary heating system because in Kano the month of July is covered by clouds and fogs, also heavy rain recorded in this month and minimum solar radiation. Based on the output of the software the system would be capable of supplying 5.59m 3 daily hot water demands at a minimum temperature of 50℃ to the hospital.

extensive study of the research carried out on the solar water heating system. In the present study, both experimental and
theoretical developments in the field of solar water heater have been reviewed thoroughly. Extensive study has been conducted to
further optimize the thermal efficiency of solar water heating. The paper provides a consolidated summary of the various types
and components of solar water heating system that includes collector, storage tank and heat transfer fluid. Review of related past
works done is included in this paper that shows different approaches from different researchers in order to improve the system
efficiency. In addition to this, detailed findings and discussion on the limitations of existing research, research gap and
recommended possible modifications is made.

The paper presents survey on the research carried out on bio-composite. The present study reviewed the literature on composite generally and bio-composite in particular. Meaning, types, classification, applications and processing methods of composite have been reviewed. The review discussed the composite micromechanics where the composite properties could be predicted prior to fabrication through use of rule of mixture. Review of related past works done, current state and future trends of bio-composite were discussed in this paper.

In view of this, this study presents appraisal of product quality control of Dozik foundry, Kano which uses cast iron scraps for casting mill plates and machine parts made from cast iron to customers and other manufacturing firms .Twenty six works periodic data set were collated and the proportion defective chart (p-chart) was analysed using MS Excel. It was observed that samples no. 5 and 25 were out of limits. This means that designated reason of variation was present and the method was not in control. It was observed that the amount of defectives in production is associated mainly to the behaviour of workers towards proper adherence to the instructions and other regulations of the manufacturing methods. Call was made on the local firms to embark on quality control procedures to improve their products quality by minimization of defective products to achieve maximum productivity.

Electrocatalytic energy conversion using renewable power sources is one of the most promising ways for energy storage and energy utilization in the new century. Over the past years, a great number of two-dimensional (2D) materials have been explored for various electrocatalytic reactions, such as the hydrogen evolution reaction, Carbon (IV) oxide (CO 2) reduction reaction and Oxygen (O 2) reduction reaction. This research provides an overview on the synthesis techniques of materials including bottom up approaches such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) and top-down approaches like mechanical exfoliation, chemical exfoliation. Then, the characterization techniques of the two-dimensional (2D) materials such as Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, temperature-dependent resistivity and magnetic susceptibility and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) are reviewed. Finally, potential applications of two-dimensional (2D) materials and conclusion, challenges and future work are discussed.

W... more This paper reviews the wind energy potential in Kano for the purpose of electricity generation. With the fast development of non-renewable energy source cost and resulting thought of depleting non-sustainable energy sources, the consideration of designers, researchers and engineers have centers in advancing renewable energy sources. The power yield from a wind turbine is emphatically subject to the wind speed and accurate data about the wind information in the targeted location. The wind speeds in Kano went from about 4.3 to 9.39 m/s as reported by many researchers in the field. These results indicated that wind speeds at Kano are reasonable for wind energy generation. Wind speed variation, power and energy in wind are also presented. Also some of the issues in the papers used in this study and suggested solutions were presented. In addition, conclusion and recommendations were also presented for further studies.
