of the Urvinum Hortense (Collemancio di Cannara, Perugia). Part of the atrium and the peristyle of the structure,
recently subjected to new stratigraphic investigations, were brought to light. The building has numerous
construction phases, but here we will focus on the one that can be dated between the 1st century BC and the 1st
century AD.

of the myth of Marsyas. On the one hand, it attempts to highlight its
fundamental characteristics, especially regarding the figure of the satyr as
a hybrid being predisposed to metamorphosis. On the other hand, it
attempts to shed light on the specific features of this character in Proto- Italic
vascular production, which are fundamental to the redefinition of the
Roman Marsyas.

The first concerns the exploitation of raw materials, in particular the rock vein and clay of the hill where the city was erected. The second regards the formal aspects and the specific ways in which locally produced ceramic artefacts were used, all discovered during the excavations conducted by the University of Perugia between 2017 and 2019.

This paper will focus on four paintings exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples that provide a vivid example of the aesthetic category of “dramatic landscape” as element that is functional to the pictorial and narrative rendering of each story and decisive for the understanding of their meaning.

The aim of this article is to point out the significance of the role played by the metaphor in Ovid’s poetic construction of metamorphoses. The connection between metaphor and metamorphosis is particularly evident in the case of Narcissus and Echo, Sonus in metaphora whose transformations specifically deal with symmetric imago. Moreover, this paper will examine contemporary wall paintings to understand how they develop the myth by using their own tools. Thus, this essay aims to shed new light on the differences and the analogies between narrative and iconography and to show how the mytheme understanding benefits greatly from a comparative analysis like the one proposed here.

Not only it constitutes the sole testimony of a theatre’s existence in the municipium (a previous fragment, found in 1938, has been until now integrated differently), but it also provides us with additional information about the gens Octavia (so far known in the town only through freedmen), the building of theatres in the regio VI and the post-Roman history of the settlement.

By looking at how these verbs are being used in Fasti from a technical point of view, it is possible to appreciate that some 'metamorphic' situations rest on the theme of purification and can also reflect ancient surviving ritual practices. Our aim is to show that Metamorphoses and Fasti, which may appear to be very different from one another, actually share the same interest for cultural and religious issues that are essential in order for the poetic imagery to be both constructed and understood.
