Il présente une expérience de recherche et création qui a eu pour but de définir la notion de "tension créative", à partir (entre autres) de la définition de la tension narrative.
Ce mémoire se compose d'une partie recherche, décomposée en trois temps (une analyse de 4321 de Paul Auster, une étude de la narration vidéoludique, et une tentative de définition de la tension créative), et d'un journal de création qui rend compte de mon projet de création (une maquette de jeu vidéo, "The Reader:Experiment", développée sur Unity).

A quoi ça sert? Voilà les trois grandes questions auxquelles tente de répondre ce mémoire de M1, pour ce qui est de la partie recherche.
Plan:
Ce mémoire se développera en trois parties, en suivant une certaine chronologie imitative des péripéties du travail de recherche. Dans un premier temps, nous approfondirons la question de l’unité du texte d’un jeu vidéo afin de souligner la nécessité de l’approcher d’abord dans son ensemble, puis dans ses sous-ensembles, pour saisir les enjeux majeurs de son rapport au récit. Dans un second temps nous tenterons d’élaborer une première typologie des textes du jeu vidéo, pour circonscrire davantage ces sous-ensembles de textes vidéoludiques et leurs spécificités. Dans cette perspective, nous nommerons deux types de textes, respectivement « intradiégétiques » et « extradiégétiques ». Enfin, cette tentative de typologie illustrée d’exemples nous confrontera à un certain nombre de problèmes qu’il s’agira de dépasser dans une dernière partie. Dans celle-ci, nous étudierons plus spécifiquement le rôle du texte dans la construction du « récit vidéoludique » (d’après la notion de D. Arsenault) en mettant l’accent sur les intrications possibles entre parcours de jeu et parcours interprétatif. Cette démarche nous amènera à compléter la typologie précédemment établie, en y ajoutant deux autres types de textes, complémentaires des premiers : les textes « constants » et les textes « variables ».
