There are so many discussions about the right words to describe what African art was and what it ... more There are so many discussions about the right words to describe what African art was and what it is now, and about the canon. A path towards answers to this questions is to start with the identification of individual pre-colonial artists. In Kwayep of Bamana's case I found some new (old) sources and combined these with what was already known. Then by formal comparison and information available I tried to identify some so far anonymous works by this "master carver".
