The new encoding is relatively simple and easily copes with degree constraints. We compare with three existing encoding schemes, including edge-set, which represents the current state of the art on the DC-MST. The new encoding demonstrates superior performance on the larger instances of the well-used ‘Structured Hard’ DC-MST problems, and similar performance on the smaller instances. We conclude that the new encoding is a recommended method for the DC-MST.

This paper implemented Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) which is a new robust stochastic evolutionary computation Algorithm based on the movement and intelligence of swarms, and compared it to a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for generating trading rules. The results showed that PSO shares the ability of genetic algorithm to handle arbitrary nonlinear functions, but with a much simpler implementation clearly demonstrates good possibilities for use in Finance.

In addition, we have also designed the hardware architecture of the Point-of-Deployment (POD) security module, designed with the Verilog HDL, using the above two interfaces. The designed POD security module has an embedded 32-bit Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) microprocessor that manages applications, such as an MPEG-2 filter, descrambler, and Data Encryption Standard (DES). We have tested this modeled and designed system using a prototype and show satisfactory simulation results.

The segmentation here is to extract leukocytes (white blood cells) and separate its constituents, nucleus and cytoplasm, in blood smear images. For this purpose, a region-based active contour model is used where region information is estimated using a statistical analysis. The role of the regional statistics is mainly to attract evolving contours toward the boundaries of leukocytes, avoiding problems with initialization. And contour deformation near to the boundaries is constrained by an additional regularizer. The active contour model is implemented using a level set method and validated with a leukocyte image database.

However, in a bent waveguide with the square cross section. the two propagation constants of TE and TM waves are different because of the bending effect. Therefore. the phase velocities for the two orthogonal waves are different and the phase difference between the waves is 0.05726333 rad for A = 0.3 %. L = 15 mm. and R = 10 mm as shown in Figure 1. The phase velocity of TM wave is faster than that of TE wave, as the effective guide index for TM wave in the channel waveguide is smaller than that of TE wave. The effective guide index niff is defined by P/ko where the propagation constant 0 has been calculated from the FD-BPM and ko 27r/X. In Figure 2. we schematically show the method to calculate the phase difference A$ between the previous and next fields, which are obtained from the FD-BPM. and p can be found as p = + (4;- - &,

The proposed algorithm is developed by applying Bremermann's evolutionary computation algorithm to the CDMA power control problem. The major advantage of the applied evolutionary computation algorithm is more rapid optimization on linear systems of equations compared with the simple genetic algorithm (SGA). By employing distributed constrained power control (DCPC) as a reference algorithm, we have designed and implemented computational experiments on the DS-CDMA system. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm significantly enhances the optimization speed of power control. The proposed algorithm is also compared with the bang-bang type algorithm used in the IS-95 and W-CDMA systems. The results show that our proposed algorithm also has the potential to increase the CDMA cellular radio network capacity and decrease the mobile terminal power consumption.

This is because it gives a good segmentation result if a topographical relief and markers are suitably chosen for different type of images. This paper proposes a parallel implementation of the watershed transform on the cellular neural network (CNN) universal machine, called cellular watersheds . Owing to its fine grain architecture, the watershed transform can be parallelized using local information. Our parallel implementation is based on a simulated immersion process. To evaluate our implementation, we have experimented on the CNN universal chip, ACE16k, for synthetic and real images.
