La armonía de las esferas desde sus orígenes, en Grecia del siglo VI a.c. y probablemente antes e... more La armonía de las esferas desde sus orígenes, en Grecia del siglo VI a.c. y probablemente antes en el antiguo Egipto, ha sido más que una teoría específica, una intuición. Una intuición que dice que en el cosmos hay algo de musical, y que en la música hay algo del cosmos. Esta intuición ha tomado forma en diferentes teorías, en cada época y en cada autor, cada uno ha buscado esta conexión en diferentes aspectos musicales o cosmológicos. Desde la antigüedad en Pitágoras, Platón, Ptomoleo, Boecio, Kepler, Newton, y hoy día sigue vigente en autores como Rudolf Haase. En este caso nos referiremos a dos teorías que explicitaron esta intuición, respondiendo cada una a una premisa de esta, por un lado, que hay de musical en el cosmos para Newton, y por el otro, que hay del cosmos en la música según Jean-Philippe Rameau.

La teoría armónica de Rameau se inscribe en una época marcada por el esplendor del racionalismo, ... more La teoría armónica de Rameau se inscribe en una época marcada por el esplendor del racionalismo, centrado en la figura de Descartes, y por el cientificismo, inaugurado por Newton. Este trabajo intenta inscribir la primera teoría armónica coherente y unificada de la música dentro de este marco de ideas y conceptos. se verá así, que tal teoría surge de la inspiración en estas ideas y que se comprende solo cabalmente cuando se la inserta dentro de estas corrientes de pensamiento. Asimismo, se examinan los trabajos teóricos sobre música precedentes de los que se nutre Rameau, en los cuales ya se había descripto las nociones de triada, inversión, bajo fundamental, cadencia, etc. se verá cómo Rameau unifica estos materiales armónicos, dispersos en distintos autores de distintas corrientes, en un todo unificado y coherente bajo un único principio evidente: el sonido fundamental. se examinan, también, las prácticas musicales de la época que propiciaron, por su sentido armónico, la construcción de este sistema. Con este trabajo se intenta favorecer el conocimiento de los orígenes de las principales nociones de la teoría armónica de la música tonal. se trata de estudios históricos y filosóficos que no abundan en la bibliografía hispanoamericana.

Aquí presentamos la traducción del segundo tratado de Jean-Philippe Rameau, texto que con el tiem... more Aquí presentamos la traducción del segundo tratado de Jean-Philippe Rameau, texto que con el tiempo ha quedado en el olvido pero que sin duda debería encontrarse entre los más importantes del pensamiento musical occidental. Con este trabajo se intenta cubrir la inmensa carencia de material bibliográfico disponible para los hispanohablantes de los textos fundantes de la teoría musical occidental tal como hoy la estudiamos y enseñamos. La importancia de hurgar en su origen, desarrollo y fundamento, radica en que, de permanecer en este estado de ignorancia, seguiremos en la extraña situación de aprender y enseñar conceptos que solo parecen tener validez por su incesante repetición durante décadas en las instituciones de enseñanza musical, como también entre músicos y profesores de música. A todos ellos, tanto
como a los autodidactas, está dirigida esta traducción. Así mismo, tengo la esperanza que este trabajo inspire a sus lectores a ser los futuros traductores de las tantas obras que restan traducir al español de la larga historia de la teoría musical occidental.
