Methodology/methods: The study applies the survey research method, carrying out a crosssectional analysis of one hundred and fifty (150) firms quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The model was specified and analysed using the binary logistic regression analysis. Scientific aim: To examine the effect of corporate social responsibility on firm profitability, to evaluate the effect of corporate social responsibility on return on equality, and to assess the effect of corporate social responsibility on market success in Nigeria. Findings: The results revealed that corporate social responsibility (CSR) exerts a positive and statistically significant effect on firm profitability (PF), return on equity (ROE) and market success (MS) in Nigeria. In light of these ugly and perturbing scenarios this study examined the causative factors of insurgency, as well as crimes in Nigeria. The study, thus, relates this to corruption, nepotism, ethnic consciousness, mediocracy, marginalisation, extreme social deprivation and religious extremism. United States and Israel have consistently and persistently pursued the new nation building designed to integrate their people, Nigeria continues to grope up around the orbit of nation-building without a genuine attempt to rotate it. Against this backdrop, this paper examined the role(s) political scientists in the overall project of nation building in Nigeria. This paper relies on secondary data collected from books and journal articles, and was content analyzed in relation to the scope of the paper. The paper concludes that without an effective leadership provision, no nation-building is achievable and this is where the role of the political scientists is seriously needed.
