effective predictors of students' academic self-efficacy in Islamic studies.
Contribution: The study concludes that achievement has a big impact on students’ motivation. The
findings of the study may contribute to the departments of Islamic studies and the Ministry of Higher
Education in Malaysia (MoHE) in understanding the present issue of achievement motivation, as the
ministry's goal is to increase students' self-efficacy. The study has implications on Islamic Studies
students at higher learning institutions to boost their motivation.
educators at Islamic Education Institutions (IEI) face dilemmas and
difficulties in nurturing the learners according to the expectation of
stakeholders. We argue, if the learners are required to manifest
reconstructing civilization, then current T&L might not be enough to
achieve the goal of objective based Islamic education (OBIE) as, OBIE
demands educators to play role model (Qudwah) for learners to imitate. In
addition, curriculum of IE should integrate notion of learning to ‘be’ in the
21st century and the days to come, emancipating the world from all
ideological, methodical, and procedural shortcomings, and establishing a
harmonious and peaceful society. To this end, this paper offers a schema to
bridge the lack in T&L of IEI. By employing qualitative case study
research method, we interviewed 12 school instructors and university
professors. Interview reveals that IE is basically objective, or outcome
based, which includes all of occupational, social, spiritual and religious
skills. Moreover, in selected IEI the T&L methods are found invariant.
Learners are taught to hold and manifest the Islamic worldview in their
personal and social lives through the steps of memorization, understanding,
articulation, internalization, and manifestation for the reconstruction of
civilization, which are not ‘distinctly and sequentially’ maintained.
