Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh penggunaan peer assessment dalam pengajaran Bahasa ... more Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh penggunaan peer assessment dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggris terhadap kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris dan efikasi diri siswa. Dengan melakukan studi ini, penulis berharap dapat menemukan apakah peer assessment dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa dan menemukan apakah evaluasi dari rekan dapat meningkatkan efikasi diri siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimental dan melibatkan 14 orang siswa sebagai subjek penelitian . Pengukuran efektifitas dari peer assessment terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris dilakukan dengan membandingkan skor ujian lisan siswa sebelum (pre-test) dan sesudah (post-test) implementasi peer assessment. Sedangkan untuk mengukur pengaruh peer assessment terhadap efikasi diri siswa dilakukan melalui perbandingan hasil pengisian kuesioner oleh siswa sebelum (pre-test) dan sesudah (post-test) implementasi peer assessment. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peer assessment dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris paada siswa secara signifikan. Peningkatan ini mungkin terjadi oleh karena siswa belajar dari kekuatan dan kelemahan diri maupun rekannya selama proses peer-assessment, sehingga kemampuan berbahasa Inggris mereka pun meningkat. Namun implementasi peer assessment menunjukkan hasil peningkatan efikasi diri yang tidak signifikan pada siswa. Hal ini dapat diimplikasikan bahwa tiga kali intervensi peer assessment sepertinya tidak cukup memadai untuk meningkatkan efikasi diri siswa / This research was aimed to study the effects of teaching English using peer assessment on students‘ speaking skills and students‘ self-efficacy. By doing this research, the writer expected to find out whether implementing peer assessment in teaching English can improve students‘ speaking skills. Furthermore, this study also wanted to find out whether peers‘ evaluation can improve students‘ self-efficacy. This study was conducted by using quasi experimental method and involving 14 students. In order to measure the effect of using peer assessment in teaching English on improving students‘ speaking skills, researcher conducted oral test before and after the implementation of peer assessment. Meanwhile, to find out the effect of using peer assessment in teaching English on students‘ self-efficacy was measured by comparing the results of self-efficacy questionnaires that were distributed to students before and after the implementation of peer assessment. The result of this study showed that using peer assessment in teaching English could significantly improve students‘ speaking skills. Students might learn each other strengths and weaknesses, during the peer-assessment process. In turn, peer-assessment raised their speaking skills. On the other hand, peer assessment gave insignificant improvement of students‘ self-efficacy in speaking English. The insignificant improvement of students‘ self-efficacy might occur because students did not get enough experiences from insufficient peer-assessment intervention, which was only applied in three sessions.

The objective of this research was to know types of students’ errors and the most common or least... more The objective of this research was to know types of students’ errors and the most common or least type of students’ error in using degrees of comparison of adjective at eight grade students of SMP Islam Ayatra. Degrees of comparison is an important element of grammar that rules how to change the form adjective to show a comparison. The research used qualitative method. The participants of this research consisted of thirty students. The source of the data in this research was collected from students’ written test in using degrees of comparison of adjective. The result of this research stated that there were four types of errors, they are omission, addition, substitution, and permutation. The total of them is 485 errors. The highest percentage type of error was substitution with 54,64% (total frequency of errors was 265). And the lowest percentage type of error was addition with 2,06% (total frequency of errors is 10).

The purpose of this paper is to describe EFL learners’ experiences while using infographics in a... more The purpose of this paper is to describe EFL learners’ experiences while using infographics in a reading class. The pedagogical intervention, based on the use of infographic application (Canva) as an alternative tool to help them summarize reading passages, was implemented to enhance their reading comprehension. The data were gathered from teacher’s journal, questionnaires and the results of students’ reading comprehension tests. The findings revealed that the students viewed the use of infographics could motivate and enabled them to summarize the assigned reading topics much easier. In addition, the assignments incorporating the use of infographic application encouraged them to participate actively in English reading activities in a collaborative atmosphere, allow them to develop their creativity and raise positive attitudes toward the role of technological tools in educational settings.Keywords: English reading, infographics, reading comprehension
