In magical practice, as well as in religious ritual, purity and purification are essential, in g... more In magical practice, as well as in religious ritual, purity and purification are essential, in good measure because these resources are effective in religion. However, not always they are used as ritual condition or state. In PGM I 290 the magician says that purity “bring the god into de greatest desire toward you” and, in fact, it seems indispensable in rites that the magician want come into contact with the divinity. But, in the other side, the opposite of purity, pollution, also can be utilized in curses with the objective of invoke the ἄγος -the spontaneous and automatic punishment of this transgression-. The magicians provoke the gods against the victims accuse them of religious crimes, even inventing them. In this paper we want study this interested usage of purity and ritual pollution as ritual instrument in greek magical papyri to makes ones desiderable or hateful for the gods.
Resulta llamativo que en el mundo académico no encontremos estudios específicos sobre el vocabula... more Resulta llamativo que en el mundo académico no encontremos estudios específicos sobre el vocabulario religioso griego, aparte de los léxicos y diccionarios. Aquí presentamos una serie de estudios realizados por profesores de distintas universidades españolas que, desde una u otra perspectiva, pero centrándose siempre en aspectos filológicos y lexicográficos, ahondan en la terminología específica que los autores clásicos utilizan para transmitir a sus lectores o a sus espectadores (pues también se analizan aquí textos escritos para ser llevados a la escena, y escuchados) la idea de lo divino y de lo sagrado. El lenguaje de los dioses o el lenguaje destinado a los dioses –o el referido a ellos– desfila por estas páginas, en las que el lector podrá acercarse al estudio de la religión griega, tan sugerente y rica en tantos aspectos –el literario, el ceremonial, el filosófico, el visual, etc.–, que la hacen todavía objeto de atracción y de conocimiento para los hombres de nuestro tiempo.
