Erika Goyarrola
Researcher and curator. Érika Goyarrola (Bilbao/Madrid, 1984) holds a PHD in Humanities (Art History) from Pompeu Fabra University (2016) with the thesis 'Self-referenciality in Contemporary Photography: Francesca Woodman, Antoine d’Agata and Alberto García-Alix'.
She is professor at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, UOC (Bachelor of Arts and Master of Cultural Management); ESDI, Escola Superior de Disseny; Idep Escola Superior d'Imatge i Disseny Barcelona and CFC, Centro de Fotografía Contemporánea de Bilbao.
She curated "La ciudad revelada. Exploraciones sobre el espacio urbano" at SCAN Tarragona Festival (2024); "Trazas de luz. Memorias de la imagen fotográfica" at SCAN Tarragona Festival (2023); ''Bego Antón. Sobre brujas, perros, elfos y otras realidades fantásticas' at Centro Niemeyer (Avilés, 2022) and Artegunea Kutxa (San Sebastián, 2021); 'Poéticas de la emoción' (2019 - 2021) at CaixaForum Girona (2020), CaixaForum Zaragoza (2019), CaixaForum Sevilla (2019) and CaixaForum Barcelona (2019); 'alt-architecture' at CaixaForum Barcelona (2016), 'De la forme à l'émotion' at Le Centquatre-Paris (2016); 'Ideas construidas' at Galería Vilaseco (A Coruña, 2015) or '1+1=12. Encuentros de Fotografía Contemporánea', a cycle of seven exhibitions at Institut français Madrid (2014).
She works as consultant curator for mobile exhibitions at Fundación la Caixa (2019 - present). She has collaborated with Fundación MAPFRE (2020 - present), Jeu de Paume museum in Paris (grant from the Spanish Ministry of Culture) (2016 - 2018), Carlos Arroyo Architects (2010 - 2011, Madrid) and Contact Press Images (2009, NY).
She studied Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid and Franche-Comté University (Besançon) (2008) and did an MA on Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Philosophy at Pompeu Fabra University (2009). She has lectured at various universities and institutions, including Carlos III University (Madrid), Círculo de Bellas Artes (Madrid), Complutense University of Madrid, Fundación Luis Seoane (A Coruña), CaixaForum Tarragona or CSIC (Madrid). As art critic, her articles have appeared in English, French, Chinese, Basque, Catalan and Spanish within various co-authored books, catalogues and journals.
