The police said the case will continue when the girl gives birth for a DNA test to prove if the child is for the accused culprit. The girl and her parents underwent counselling sessions conducted by the Gender Based Violence at the Malindi Sub-County Hospital and moral support talks from the clerics and the project staff. The CICC linked the girl with the Pope Francis Rescue Centre being run by the Catholic Diocese of Malindi for the case follow-up after she gave birth.
