In fact the two methodological procedures are quite dierent. In the era of Weimarer Republic the Berlin School used a combination of empirical research, philosophical reexion, phenomenology and physiology, those conceptions – derived from the work of Stumpf – were their methodological guidelines until World War II. Compared to the 'pure' phenomenology and epistemology in times of the Weimarer Republic the gestalt phenomenology can be seen as 'impure' and 'anachronistic'. In this paper the characteristics and the actuality of this 'anachronism' are discussed. 1.

After Husserl’s “Philosophy as Rigorous Science”. Another Kind of Phenomenology in the Era of Weimarer Republic Abstract: After the publication of Philosophie als strenge Wissenschaft , Husserl sustaine...

Despite this discredit, the main embarrassing implications of the dark room are still implicitly present in some very important theories developed during the second half of the 20th century. On the other hand, the contemporary theories that are free of such implications contain a gap concerning how we can come to explain the class of representational contents of the perceptual experience.

The paper will start from what Max Scheler had called «the psychophysical indifference» of the lived-living body and its expressions. Through this principle, Scheler intended to affirm that expressive manifestations are necessary and sufficient condition for understanding the other people’s basic feelings. After showing the contemporary valorisation of Scheler’s conception in the phenomenological field and in the light of recent neurophysiological research, the paper will examine the contrast posed by Klages between expressive gestures and pantomimic gestures. Through F.J.J. Buytendijk ‘s and H. Plessner’s theses, the specificity of expressions linked to voluntariness, cultural traditions, and to the social and communicative dimension of human beings will be shown. Finally, through K. Buhler’s views an...

Another point from today’s debate is that, if a theory of perception does not take into account how things appear to us, it cannot be considered a good theory of perception. This paper will focus on the theoretical basis of Paolo Bozzi’s «experimental phenomenology» and some of its topics that are now very topical in the light of the current debates in philosophy of perception.

But Wittgenstein’s publicity was rather negative, as the Austrian philosopher has often considerably distorted and simplified the positions taken on by Gestaltism. This aspect also concerns the problem of seeing the meanings. In this paper I will try to show that Köhler’s stance in this respect is far different than the substantially trivial and simplistic one that had been attributed to him through Wittgenstein.
