There has been instances of emerging Malaysian ethnic fusion music in the local music scene without extended commodification as other local popular music genres. Socially, this has not help to popularize the ethnic artistic and cultural boundaries of the local music. The purpose of this paper is to explore a simple and straight forward tune which can be appealing through its compositional concepts and structures. It is recorded by a Malaysian ethnic fusion group call ‘AkashA’. The paper also examine the cultural hospitality in fusing Joget music with genres of other music through its uses of a common pulse and instrumentation.
