Sara Farris offers an extremely fascinating Marxian reading of femonationalism in Italy, that is the attempt of right-wing parties to co-opt feminist ideals into anti-immigrant and anti-Islam campaigns. Their goal is to declare the necessity of protecting weak immigrant women from their dangerous men in order to integrate and turn them into useful domestic caregivers. Gianmaria Colpani interrogates the possibility of using Jaspir K. Puar’s notion of homonationalism in Italy and comes to the conclusion that merely transferring the notion as defined and used by the US-based scholar is not enough. This very useful concept needs to be adapted in fact to Italian culture and society. Annalisa Frisina and Camilla Hawthorne look at the ways in which female second-generation immigrants dispute Western beauty standards and lay claim to their Italianness wearing hijabs and Afro hairstyles. Tatiana Petrovich Njegosh concludes this collection claiming the stability of meticciato as a taboo in today’s Italy. The fear of miscegenation is not only cultural, but also deeply racial. Even if biological races do not exist among humans, race still exists because of its deeply operational power. The close-knit collaboration of the contributors emerges as a very important feature of the volume. The essays talk to each other and refer to each other, giving a clear sense of the passionate and collective effort behind this volume. Il Colore della Nazione is a porous and hybrid work shaped by the prefixes ‘trans-’ and ‘inter-’. It is a transnational, interdisciplinary, and intersectional book that wants to overcome rigid boundaries. It is a work that wants to problematize lines and borders through the lenses of cultural studies, post-colonial studies, gender studies and critical race and whiteness studies. This volume, which I hope will be translated into English, despite some minor editorial slips that should be corrected in future editions, is an invaluable addition to the critical study of race and racism in Italy.

The theme is related to Goal 11: "Making cities and human settlements inclusive, secure, lasting and sustainable" and specifically to Goal 11.4: "Strengthen commitments to protect and safeguard the world's cultural and natural heritage", set out in the 2030 Strategy Agenda. The methodological process is defined, therefore, upon improving protection measures with the use of special equipment with archaeological and architectural purposes for the relief of walled cities and fortresses in hazardous areas. The historical heritage helps to return the identity of peoples. The application of research areas extend both into the fields of archeology and that of architecture. The overall goal is to provide a picture of the state of study and research into the Byzantine system in Calabria. A fundamental role in defining the Byzantine architectural character in Calabria...
