Such methodology, called “Systematic Approach to Territory”, has suffered some changes, specially due to singular experimentation that intended to value if prior procedures were correct and efficient. Experimentation, applied to complex areas such as a Roman city (with the obvious problems of superimposed phases that make understanding more difficult), and to more simple fields as the villas, has indeed been satisfactory, and results have been published in Lectures with similar contents to the ones proposed for this 2007 Lecture. In fact, the objective for this methodology has been achieved: the structures plan without excavating, its accurate measures, and its correct location in the urban web. In some cases, due to the superficial de...

It is impossible to carry out the whole excavation, because of obvious economic and time reasons, what makes it advisable nowadays to use nondestructive tools for investigation to get information about the rest of the site. Such tools are mainly aerial Archaeology and Geophysical Prospectings (magnetic and electric), non-destructive techniques used not only to detect new sites but also to interpret the inner structure of those already known. The goal of this communication is to expound the methodology that has been created to improve our knowledge about the Roman villa of Almenara de Adaja / Puras, by means of the aerial Archaeology, remote sensing and Digital Cartography. Therefore, the aerial Archaeology has permitted us to identify attached rooms, surely rural, external to the pars urbana. Apart from all these findings, we have to add the detection of both a likely ...

This section of the itinerary offers an unusual and supplementary amount of milestones, whose information about the distance in miles to Emerita Augusta, caput viae of the itinerary, sometimes does not agree with reality. The author has collected and compared all the pieces found at this section of the Calzada de la Plata. Afterwards he has examined every piece and revised every inscription. Moreover the author has found two unpublished pieces, in very bad conditions, that increase the remarkable number of milestones from that Way.

Multi-source and multi-temporal imagery materials can guarantee a continuous monitoring of the state of site conservation. We have studied some image processing techniques, with reference to archeological applications, achieving two goals: obtaining more readable and measurable images. This methodology is very different from the traditional use of aerial photography in archeology: not only stereo-photo-interpretation of the site, but digital filtering to magnify archeological evidence. We have applied this experimental methodology to some sites in Spain. In this paper we present the results on the site of a Roman town in the Iberian peninsula, Colonia Clunia Sulpicia (Penalba de Castro, Burgos). For some years, we have collected some information about urban textu...
