L' esortazione apostolica Evangelii gaudium (in seguito EG), del 24 novembre 2013, vuole essere u... more L' esortazione apostolica Evangelii gaudium (in seguito EG), del 24 novembre 2013, vuole essere un documento programmatico del pontificato di papa Bergoglio. Questa è l'intenzione espressa del documento, che fin dalle prime righe proclama il contenuto centrale che ispira l'azione di papa Francesco. Già l'incipit infatti racchiude in nuce tutto il messaggio che questo papa vuole comunicare alla Chiesa cattolica 1 : «La gioia del Vangelo riempie il cuore e la vita intera di coloro che si incontrano con Gesù. Coloro che si lasciano salvare da Lui sono liberati dal peccato, dalla tristezza, dal vuoto interiore, dall'isolamento. Con Gesù Cristo sempre nasce e rinasce la gioia. In questa esortazione desidero indirizzarmi ai fedeli cristiani, per invitarli a una nuova tappa evangelizzatrice marcata da questa gioia e indicare vie per il cammino della Chiesa nei prossimi anni» (1) 2. Mi pare che siano almeno tre le affermazioni implicite ed esplicite al tempo stesso di questo scritto: il carattere programmatico, il primato del Vangelo, l'indicazione di un metodo. a) Il carattere programmatico è esplicitamente enunciato: «indicare vie per il cammino della Chiesa nei prossimi anni». Si può porre la domanda sull'effettiva consistenza di questa pretesa. La domanda non verte sulla possibilità che il programma resti lo stesso per tutta la durata del pontificato. Prudentemente il papa indica solo i «prossimi anni». Ci si può chiedere invece se si tratti di una pretesa astratta o di una pretesa che si invera nella prassi effettiva di questo papato. Un documento papale, come questa esortazione apostolica, spesso è redatto, in piccola o in gran parte, da alcuni esperti ai quali il papa comunica le sue intenzioni e sul cui testo egli si propone di intervenire per verificare se esso corrisponda a quanto desidera. Effettivamente il carattere prolisso e a volte ripetitivo del documento lascia trasparire la presenza di più mani. Il dubbio quindi è legittimo ed è tale che l'interprete è costretto a valutare il peso effettivo delle singole affermazioni nel contesto più ampio del pontificato. Nel caso specifico abbiamo tuttavia un termine di raffronto decisivo, quello della predicazione quotidiana di questo papa. Si tratta di una predicazione che, per lo stile, la continuità dei motivi e degli accenti, è quanto mai rivelativa della prassi effettiva e delle scelte di governo dell'attuale vescovo di Roma. E sebbene non esistano ancora studi sull'omiletica di papa Francesco, senza paura di essere smentiti, possiamo costatare come il 'programma' enunciato nell'esortazione riappaia costantemente nelle omelie. 117 1 La destinazione dell'esortazione è chiaramente affermata dal papa al n. 200: esortazione «rivolta ai membri della Chiesa Cattolica». 2 Nel corso di tutta la trattazione, i numeri arabi tra parentesi si riferiscono ai corrispondenti numeri dell'esortazione, secondo la versione italiana contenuta nel sito della Santa Sede: www.vatican.va.
