PALABRAS CLAVE: Cerámica, Garb al-Andalus, Iconografía. SOME NOTES ON ICONOGRAPhY AND ORNAMENTATION IN ThE CERAMICS OF ThE GARB AL-ANDALUS ABSTRACT: In this work of homage to Manuel Acién Almansa, the CIGA group gathers a set of objects with prominent iconographic elements, interpreting the symbolism and meaning that the ornamentation of these objects had in the western territories of al-Andalus, a peripheral region where pottery was an important instrument for the transmission of messages from the power centers of al-Andalus.

The Directorate General for Cultural Heritage (DGPC) is responsible for managing the inventory of listed heritage, heritage awaiting listing, as well as archaeological heritage in mainland Portugal. This primary task, that involves systematizing inventory rules and implementing a methodical and updated inventory of cultural heritage, is an essential tool for managing and safeguarding this heritage. The inventory of urban heritage, comprising archaeological and architectural heritage, is particularly complex as it is intertwined with land use management. Keywords: Inventory, Heritage, Architectural Heritage, Archeological Heritage, Cultural Heritage, Heritage Management, Heritage Documentation, Heritage Protection, Territory Management.
