Left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy can be related to a multitude of cardiac disorders, such as hyp... more Left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy can be related to a multitude of cardiac disorders, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), cardiac amyloidosis, and hypertensive heart disease. Although the presence of LV hypertrophy is generally associated with poorer cardiac outcomes, the early differentiation between these pathologies is crucial due to the presence of specific treatment options. The diagnostic process with LV hypertrophy requires the integration of clinical evaluation, electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography, biochemical markers, and if required CMR and endomyocardial biopsy in order to reach the correct diagnosis. In 108 consecutive HT recipients (organ age 4.1±4.7 years, 25 [23%] with diabetes mellitus) who underwent cardiac catheterization, CAV grade by International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) criteria, MPRI, late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and hsTnT values were obtained. Herein we report the diagnostic potential of cardiac computed tomography (cCT) to delineate the o... more Herein we report the diagnostic potential of cardiac computed tomography (cCT) to delineate the origin and course of an anomalous right coronary artery (RCA) originating from the midpart of the left anterior descended artery (LAD) in an adult with no other form of congenital heart disease. The patient was referred to our institution due to exertional dyspnea and suspected coronary artery disease. The patient underwent X-ray coronary angiography, and no high grade lesions were observed in the left coronary vessels. In the course of the mid-left-anterior-descending artery (LAD), an anomalous side branch coursing away from the left circumflex coronary artery (LCX) was observed, while a right coronary ostium could not be depicted. cCT confirmed the absence of a right coronary ostium, and the vessel originating from the mid LAD was identified as an anomalous RCA, which coursed anterior of the aorta and the pulmonary trunk.

Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging was performed in 74 consecutive patients 2-4days after successfully reperfused STEMI, using a 1.5T CMR scanner (Philips Achieva). Peak systolic circumferential and longitudinal strains were measured using the FTI applied to SSFP cine sequences and were compared to infarct size, determined by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). Follow-up CMR at 6months was performed in order to assess residual ejection fraction, which deemed as the reference standard for the estimation of functional recovery. Herein, we report an unusual case of an annuloaortic ectasia with asymmetric dilatation of the right coronary bulb mimicking a membranous ventricular septal defect (VSD) with Eisenmenger reaction by transthoracic echocardiography. Aortic angiography showed a dilated aortic root and moderate aortic regurgitation. Right cardiac catheterization, on the other hand, exhibited normal pulmonary artery blood pressure and normal pulmonary resistance, whereas normal venous gas values were measured throughout the caval vein and the right atrium, excluding relevant left-right shunting.
