To better understand quinoa response to salinity, an open field experiment was carried out by subjecting two different origins quinoa accessions (27 GR and Line 0291) irrigated with different NaCl concentrations (50, 100, 150 and 200 mM). Photosythetic parameters (stomatic conductance and photosynthetic activity) biochemical parameters (proline, total sugars, total proteins), dry matter, water content and total grain yield were determined at fruiting stage. Results showed that increasing NaCl concentration induce a stimulation of dry matter and water content of different accessions, which can be explained by a well osmotic adjustment. According to GC-MS analyses, 37 compounds were identified with limonene was the most abundant (62.2%). The bioactive compounds were identified using HPLC–MS, revealing the presence of sixteen phytochemical compounds, with the most abundant being p-coumaric acid, followed by 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid, trans-ferulic acid and acacetin. Furthermore, E. humile extracts showed marked antimicrobial properties against human pathogen strains, with MIC values for the most relevant extracts (methanol and ethyl acetate) ranging from 0.19 to 6.25 mg/mL and 0.39 to 12.50 mg/mL, respectively. The MOEO was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), revealing the presence of thirty compounds, representing 98.46% of the oil constituents. The predominant components were 1,8-cineole (39.80%) followed by citronellol (16.66%), geraniol (12.25%), myrcene (5.85%) and geranial (5.45%). Muell. The chemical composition of the hydrodistilled essential oil of the leaves of E. oleosa was analyzed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The main constituents of the oil were found to be 1,8-cineole (45.1%), α-pinene (14.52%), and α-terpineol (4.35%). The essential oil showed strong antibacterial activity against the test microorganisms studied, while polar subfraction of methanol extract had moderate antibacterial activity and the nonpolar subfraction of methanol extract did not show any antibacterial activity. In contrast, the extract showed much better activity than the essential oil in antioxidant activity assays employed, e.g., in DPPH systems, the highest radical-scavenging activity was shown by the polar subfraction (15.1 ± 0.7 μg/ml). In the second case, the inhibition capacity (%) of the nonpolar subfraction (98.2% ± 1.5) was found to be the stronger one. Thus, Tunisian Thymus vulgaris Essential Oil (TVEO) were investigated in parallel with its capacity to limit fatty acids and proteins oxidation in tuna (Euthynnus alletteratus) minced during refrigeration storage (4°C). Our results revealed that for tuna preservation, the measured concentrations of PV, TBARS and TVB-N during different storage periods showed a good efficiency of this Essential Oil (EO) (3%) in limiting lipids and proteins oxidation of tuna flesh. Moreover, we observed increase in all batches which was significantly different (P< 0.05) with lots treated with TVEO were the most conserved comparing to the BHT. Overall outcomes suggest that TVEO use for tuna conservation could represent a promising strategy to improve the qualitative characteristics as well as the safety of seafood.

The highest amount of TPC (661.66 ± 0.08 mg GAE/g), TFC (344.68 ± 0.44 mg QE/g) and TCT (90.18 ± 0.49 mg CE/g) was recorded to ethanol, acetone, and dichloromethane extracts, respectively. For 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) (22.00 ± 0.03 µg/mL) and Reducing Power Assay (FRAP) (269.00 ± 0.01µg/mL) assays, ethanol extract showed the potent activity, while with ABTS test, acetone extract was the most active (761.15 ± 0.09 µg/mL). Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate, for the first time, the effect of solvents on extraction yield, polyphenolics, phytoconstituents and antioxidant properties of various extracts (aqueous, methanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, hexane) of Echium humile Desf. (E. humile Desf.) through in vitro and in silico studies.
