The present study used the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT), an objective neuropsychological instrument, and the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS), a self-report measure, to assess decision-making characteristics and impulsivity in a sample of hypersexual men. Treatment-seeking males with clinically elevated scores on the Hypersexual Behavior Inventory (HBI-19) and who otherwise met criteria for hypersexuality completed the IGT and BIS. Results were compared to a control condition. The current analysis identified significant group differences on the IGT and the BIS. Hypersexual participants selected decks containing frequent loss penalties at a greater frequency than controls on the IGT and endorsed elevated levels of impulsivity on the BIS. The current results reflect non-normative responses on both measures and are consistent with a pattern of executive dysregulation in hypersexual individuals.

The authors tested whether coping resources explained the link between religious coping and depressive symptoms in a sample of 349 college students. Results indicated that coping resources partially mediated the relationship between negative religious coping and depressive symptoms, primarily through decreased social ease. The results offered no evidence that coping resources mediated the relationship between positive religious coping and depressive symptoms.

Having an interpersonal conceptualization of forgiveness was positively related to a collectivistic worldview. Also, an interpersonal conceptualization of forgiveness was positively related to forgiveness measures that stressed interpersonal interactions with the offender. However, an interpersonal conceptualization of forgiveness was positively related to a

The traumatic impact for partners of an initial disclosure or discovery of betrayals has been well documented, but less is known about the impact of disclosure for sex addicts. The present study explored the experience of relapse and disclosure among sex addicts. Relapse was a common experience among sex addicts, and the disclosure of relapse had a range of consequences for the addict and the relationship. Voluntary disclosure of relapse (rather than the partner discovering relapses independently) was associated with positive relational outcomes.
