Revolutionary management strategy increased the survival rate of retinoblastoma above 95% but still it is a deadly cancer worldwide. Survival from retinoblastoma depends on income >90% vs 40% (in high to low income countries) and metastases is higher in low-income countries. Forty three percent of global burden lives in 6 countries of Asia. An estimated worldwide death rate is more than 40% and most from Asia and Africa. Bangladesh is one of the developing countries of the South- East Asia region and retinoblastoma constitutes 83% of all pediatric cancer bellow 4 years age group. Early detection of cases and proper referral may decrease the advance disease which may achieved by strong awareness program. To save life and vision multidisciplinary team approach is a time demand now. Chittagong Eye Infirmary is a tertiary eye care center is serving retinoblastoma patients with a multidisciplinary team approach ...

To prevent corneal exposure and to attain an excellent visual outcome, urgent surgical intervention is needed in such cases. Our reported case is a bilateral upper lid congenital microblepharon with ectropion associated with Down’s syndrome and its management.

Case Report: A 2 year old girl presented with left recurrent extensive conjunctival squamous papilloma being treated surgically thrice along with adjunctive cryotherapy and topical Mitomycin C (MMC). We managed the case with surgical excision again with adjunctive subconjunctival or sublesional pegylated (peg) interferon alpha 2a injection along with the whole surface amniotic membrane graft. The patient had upper canalicular papillomatous lesion which was also managed by surgical excision and subcanalicular peg-interferon alpha 2a injection. There was no recurrence in subsequent 3 months follow up. Conclusion: Subconjunctival pegylated interferon alpha 2a injection and amniotic membrane graft may be a novel combined modality to manage extensive conjunctival squamous papillomatous neoplasia that may yield successful outcome. Keywords: Conjunctival papilloma, Peginterf...

Amiodarone is an effective drug for various postoperative arrhythmias. Objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Amiodarone in controlling postoperative arrhythmia in our settings at the department of cardiac surgery. Methods: This retrospective observational study involved random selection of 20 patients, who developed potentially life-threatening arrhythmia following cardiac surgical procedures under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) between January 2018 and December 2020. Amiodarone was used in controlling postoperative cardiac arrhythmia by loading 1000 mg in first 24 hours, followed by 800 mg orally in daily divided doses. Results: Among 20 patients under study, five had valvular replacement, three had A...
