Randomly 116 (8% of 1453) far mers were selected from three villages as sample for the study. Maximum 62.93% of respondents had medium while 20.69% had low and 16.38% had high adoption of improved rice cultivation practices. Education, training exposure, organizational participation, extension media contact and cosmopoliteness had significant positive relationship with the adoption of improved rice cultivation practices. Family size, farm size and annual income had no significant positive relationship with the adoption of improved rice cultivation practices.

The primary aim of the study was to determine the impact of agroforestry practices on the livelihoods of the respondents in the hill ecosystems of Bangladesh. This study comparatively assessed 100 smallholder agroforestry farmers' livelihoods in the hill ecosystem (Rangamati and Bandarban districts). An immense and in-depth field visit was conducted from June 2018 to August 2019, interviewing the farmers through both open-ended and closed-ended semi-structured questionnaires. Group discussion was also used to retrieve qualitative data. Five livelihood capitals: human, physical, natural, financial and social showed a mixed impact on agroforestry farmers' livelihoods. The respondents were mostly (34%) young (20-30 years old), illiterate (44%) and experienced in farming (64%), but interested in adopting agroforestry practices for their livelihood maintenance. The financial capital is gained through crop income, farmers' ownership of high-value equipment (motorcycles or thresher/dryer), and lease tenure of land. Farmers appear to have similar access to physical and natural capital and relatively higher access to social capital, although livelihood resources are interrelated. All these observations come together into a picture of the hill people's socioeconomic and farming characteristics. Farmers' livelihoods are improved tremendously by practicing agroforestry as they've further access to food, fodder and fuel lumber, which is reflected by greater access to livelihood capital. Despite the prevalence of location, the sensitive questionnaire (income range) and the search for solutions to problems through group discussion are limitations of this study. Further research is recommended to more thoroughly investigate the impact of agroforestry systems on farmers' livelihoods.

P0; without pinching and P1; with pinching) with 3 replications showed the tallest (37.7 cm) and the shortest plant (33.4 cm) without pinching and with pinching, respectively. Maximum number of leaves (30.1) and flowers (58.7) per plant were recorded following pinching (P1); and minimum number of leaves (26.8) and flowers (37.9) per plant were from without pinching (P0). Four levels of nitrogen viz. N 0 (Control), N 1 (10 kgha-1), N 2 (20 kgha-1) and N 3 (25 kgha-1) were used on experiment followed by Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Maximum plant height (40.52 cm), number of leaves (19.14), number of branches (10.09), average dry weight/plant (7.35 g), number of pods/plant (15.90), number of seeds/pod (4.49), 1000-seed weight (42.56 g), seed yield (1.06/ha), stover yield (2.08/ha), N content in seed (3.60), P content in seed (0.48) and K content in seed (1.26) were found in N 3 which was statistically similar with N 2 whereas minimum from N 0 .

The experiment was conducted at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BS... more The experiment was conducted at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Bangladesh during November 2005 to April 2006 to study the seed production potentiality of BSMRAU developed open pollinated radish varieties (viz., BU Mula 1 and BU Mula 2) under two levels of root cutting (viz., one third and no cutup) and three levels of uprooting namely 30, 40 and 50 days after sowing (DAS). Results revealed that both root cutting and uprooting days significantly influenced most of the characters pertaining to seed yield per plant. Root cutting delayed the flowering, pod initiation, maturation of siliqua and reduced plant height, number of branches per plant, number of siliqua per plant, and number of seeds per siliqua. The yields were also impaired by root cutting. In general, the entire yield components and seed yield were highly affected with the one third root cutting. Various uprooting days also had influenced these characters. In case of treatment combination of no cut and 30 days of uprooting there was a significant difference between the varieties. The variety BU Mula 2 produced better seed yield per plot than BU Mula 1. Also in both the varieties the 1/3rd cut treatment with 30 or 50 days uprooting sequence showed unsatisfied number of seeds per siliqua in comparison to the no cut treatment except 40 days uprooting.

Our online journal has been successful: we have seen a steady increase in readership, article submissions, and citations to our published articles. Our reputation and visibility in the academic community continues to broaden, and our honorary editorial board constantly reassesses and revises the editorial process to ensure the most efficient and satisfying experience for both authors and staff. The journal aspires to be vibrant, engaging and accessible, and at the same time integrative and challenging. All submitted papers, however, will be subject to the journal’s double-blind review process. On request, we have taken an initiative to upload original research papers which have not been published elsewhere. Interested researchers may also opt to have their works printed in the quarterly research journal soon to be launched. Papers are also invited for publication in our online/printed journal.
