Aluminum, epoxy resin and (untreated and air plasma treated) crosslinked polyethylene substrates ... more Aluminum, epoxy resin and (untreated and air plasma treated) crosslinked polyethylene substrates were silanized with a trimethoxyvinylsilane (TVS) coupling agent, where the reaction conditions, like the relative humidity of the air, the durations of the hydrolytical and of the heat treatment steps were varied systematically. The stability of the bonds formed were tested by exposing the silanized surfaces to hot water vapour or heptane, and the chemical changes were monitored by XPS (ESCA). The amount of the deposited TVS increased for each substrate with the increase of the relative humidity and the time of conditioning. The coating on the Al surface was resistant to heptane soaking, but the overwhelming portion of the coupling agent could be removed by treatment with hot water vapour. This indicates the formation of predominantly ionic bonds between the TVS and the Al substrate. In contrast, the major portion of the coupling agent was removed from the surface of the epoxy resin by ...
The correlation of structural electronic and mechanical properties of carbon-nickel composite thi... more The correlation of structural electronic and mechanical properties of carbon-nickel composite thin films has been investigated. The films were deposited on oxidized silicon substrates by dc magnetron sputtering of Ni and C targets in argon at different temperatures between 25 and 800 °C. Composition variation was achieved by variation of the power of the Ni target with constant power on

For PVTMS the gradual development of a new component on the high kinetic energy side of the original Si KL23L23 peak was observed, which was attributed to the formation of [SiC4] units

High-purity N2, He and H2 gases were ionized in radio frequency (rf) discharge and implanted at acceleration voltages of 20–30 kV with dose of 2×1017 ion/cm2. The first-order Raman spectra with probe wavelengths of 785 nm and 488 nm as well as infrared reflection spectra were
