قلعة أربيل .. هذا الصرح العظيم ، الذي ينتصب كعملاق اسطوري يطل على مدينة أربيل ، كشاهد على عراقة هذه الأرض الطيبة ، وحارس للطامعين في أربيل ( وما أكثرهم ) من برابرة ومغول وهمج ، استفزهم اسمها الكبير ، وسال لعابهم على خيراتها الوفيرة ، ولكن القلعة ظلت صامدة بعناد وعنفوان وقوة ، ظلت القلعة وظل أهلها ، ليسجلوا على صفحات التاريخ مأثرة لم يسبقهم اليها أحد من قبل ، وهي أنها أعرق قلعة على وجه الأرض ، و أعرق مكان ظل مأهولاً دائماً على مرالأيام وتعاقب الدهور حتى يومنا هذا.

A part of the Erbil Citadel wall was discovered, which was not visible to the eye, and we did not know much about it except for passing references in the historical writings that mention that the wall surrounded the Citadel, which enabled the inhabitants of the Citadel to defend it against the attacks of enemies and invaders.

Shammak Palace is a hill and a large archaeological site located in the Shammak district, 25 km southwest of the city of Erbil, in an area located approximately the same distance from the Tigris River and the Assyrian capital.
Kaleh / Nimrud, the site is reached via the Erbil road towards Al Gwer and on the banks of the Shiwazor River, where the hill lies between the village of Tarjan in the north and the village of Saadawa in the south.
