Engenheiro agrônomo pela Universidade Estadual do Maranhão (2002), Licenciado em Disciplinas do Ensino Médio e Profissional pela Universidade Estadual do Maranhão (2006), especialização em Educação Ambiental e Gestão Participativa de Recursos Hídricos pelo Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Maranhão (2007), mestrado em Sustentabilidade de Ecossistemas pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão (2010), mestrado em Cartografia Social e Política da Amazônia pela Universidade Estadual do Maranhão (2023), doutorado em Agronomia (Horticultura) pela Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas - Câmpus de Botucatu - Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" - FCA/UNESP (2015). O intercâmbio de plantas entre as colônias portuguesas ocorreu ao longo de todo um processo de ex... more O intercâmbio de plantas entre as colônias portuguesas ocorreu ao longo de todo um processo de expansão territorial desde o século XV. O objetivo geral deste artigo foi realizar pesquisa documental em “Poranduba maranhense: relação histórica da província do Maranhão”, a fim de resgatar a história natural das plantas do Maranhão no século XIX, de modo a atualizar as informações de acordo com o conhecimento botânico atual, e, mais especificamente, conhecer as espécies, as procedências e os seus respectivos usos. Foram extraídos 174 etnômios, dos quais 88,51% (n = 154) foram identificados pelo menos em nível de família e 11,49% (n = 20) não tiveram suas identidades botânicas esclarecidas. Destes, 81% (n = 141) são constituídos por espécies nativas e 19% (n = 33), por exóticas. A alimentação humana obteve a maior citação de uso, 31% (n = 58). Os usos madeireiros e medicinais figuraram na sequência, com respectivos 22% (n = 41) e 15% (n = 28). No códice de plantas, constam tanto espécies voltadas para o comércio, como cana-de-açúcar, algodão, tabaco e café, quanto espécies ligadas aos hábitos alimentares do colonizador português, além de grande número de espécies nativas. De maneira geral, a representação de plantas retrata o padrão de colonização.
The quilombola community Manival, is located at the municipality of Alcantara, state of Maranhão,... more The quilombola community Manival, is located at the municipality of Alcantara, state of Maranhão, Brazil and has a long tradition of using medicinal plants. The objective of this study was to relate the citations of use of native medicinal plants with their availability in forest fragments of that traditional community. For this study, we used the technique known as “snowball” to identify key informants and ethnobotanical information about the plants used and the type of vegetation where they occur. The second stage of the research consisted of floristic survey in forest fragments belonging to the community aiming to verify species with circumference at breast height 10= cm, for adult specimens and <10 cm for young individuals, beyond their respective absolute and relative frequencies, using parcels identified with PVC plates, containing the name of the collection site, landscape unit, vegetation type, and name of medicinal species that initiates the plot. INTRODUÇÃO: A conservação da biodiversidade necessariamente envolve além dos usuais aspectos biol... more INTRODUÇÃO: A conservação da biodiversidade necessariamente envolve além dos usuais aspectos biológicos, os aspectos sociais e culturais. Os dados de pesquisas etnobotânicas devem levar em consideração as comunidades locais no que se referem à preservação dos recursos naturais, uma vez que podem preservar aquilo que lhes sejam úteis (ALBUQUERQUE, 2004). A comunidade litorânea de Canelatiua, objeto deste estudo, situada a S 02° 10’ 56.4’’ e W 44° 26’ 38.7’’, possui uma área total de 198,6 ha, pequeno número de habitantes (151), e um complexo sistema de manutenção dos modos de vida, que garantem minimamente a segurança alimentar da comunidade, mantendo alguns trechos de vegetação relativamente conservados (LINHARES, 2010). O trabalho teve como objetivo realizar um levantamento florístico, fitossociológico, e etnobotânico, em quatro fragmentos florestais, na comunidade de Canelatiua, Alcântara-MA, Brasil.
