The goal is to show the dynamics of the development in his notion of humanity. One of the sub-goals is to show that Comenius’s specific notion of resignation, which is characteristic for his post-White-mountain work, has got a particularly positive meaning, and as such lays meaningful foundation for his educational and emendation plans and efforts of the later periods.

Nor is it a didactic manual for specific teaching units on moral education aimed at some group based on age or a particular theme (although some educational frameworks will be proposed). As the title suggests, the book intends to seek the starting points or foundations without which no moral education would be possible. The goal is to formulate and tackle the key questions that precede all moral education. What makes “good vs. evil” language possible and meaningful? Can virtue be taught and learned? What makes our actions good? What is the condition of human nature? Are we naturally good, or evil? What constitutes an educator’s right to morally influence anyone else (not just a child)? What is the goal of moral education? What does a morally educated person look like? And how can we ensure the coveted moral result? Or—in the words of Jan Amos Comenius, the “teacher of nations”—how to educate a person to not only know what is good, but also to want what is good, and to do what is good “even when no one is looking?”

The author identifies and analyses the causes of modern crisis of humanity as well as its pedagogical formation, which is based on anthropological reductionism and post-enlightenment restriction of the transcendental dimension of humanity. As an alternative to the problematic modern anthropology, the study presents Comenius's view of humanity, which provides stimulating material for the humanisation efforts in contemporary pedagogy.

Je rozvinutá i zavinutá. V rozmachu i v krizi. Progresivní i regresivní. Kráčí mílovými kroky kupředu, ale i dozadu. Cílem této studie je objasnit tuto ambivalenci. Problém současné pedagogiky a školství nespočívá až tolik v přehmatech, omylech či selhání profesionálních pedagogů, ale v proměně filosofického paradigmatu či tzv. metanarace, která zásadním způsobem předefinovala sociální normy, priority, hodnoty, struktury, vztahy atd. naší západní společnosti. Tyto změny se týkají i peadagogiky. Dílčím cílem je nastínit metanarativní rámec, ve kterém Jan Amos Komenský utvářel svůj pedagogický projekt formování humanity a srovnat jej s převládající metanarací současnosti.

Some aspects of his work were emphasized, some neglected, depending on what was considered to be up-to-date or relevant. The goal of this study is to point to a hermeneutical horizon which would allow to overcome the traditional interpretation of Comenius as basically modern thinker and mere didactitian.

Projekt Komenský 2020 usiloval o popularizaci Komenského Porady i širšího humanitního odkazu.

The author – Jan Amos Comenius – consciously uses allegorical narrative for didactic purposes – mainly for his own moral self-reflection in the face of suffering. His method proved to be very effective. The goal of this text is to explore the potential of the literary method from the perspective of moral (trans)formation. The key question is: How did Comenius convey the moral content of his “lesson” in the Labyrinth? Or in general: How does allegorical narrative work as a tool of moral (trans)formation – both for the reader and author of the text. Specifically, this paper attempts to show several literary functions of the Labyrinth as a tool of moral (trans)formation: the therapeutic function, the emphatic function, the imitation function, the organizational function, the performative function and the plot function.
