This achievement allows us to find coherence and to bring together practices based on an understanding and on the consideration of the person as the centre of all actions. The bodies which offer support to persons with Autistic Spectrom Disorder (referred to hereon as ASD) have not gone untouched by the influence of this concept of quality. The serious difficulties which are associated with this disorder affect the main areas of ones personal development: socialisation, communication, comprehension, and adaptation to ones environment, and they require that organizations promote integral networks of resources which guarantee a lifetime of quality services and support. (Barthélemy y cols., 2002:; Plimley, 2007, Cuesta y Hortiguela, 2007). We have moved away from the traditional organizational model where resources and services were consid...

Autism spectrum disorder is characterized by a qualitative alteration in social interaction and communication associated with restricted interests and stereotyped behaviors. This condition will accompany people throughout their lives, with variations in their evolution. Our objectives were to know the evolutionary characteristics of people with autistic spectrum disorder, analyzing cognitive, behavioral, health, mortality and their needs in the aging stage, which will guide the planning of specific support resources. We analyze studies related to the evolution in adult life in people with this disorder, with or without identified entities, and socio-health conditions that should be considered in the aging process. The knowledge about aging in people with autism is still scarce and it is difficult to define a specific pattern because this will depend, among other factors, on the etiology, the degree, the presence of intellectual disabili...

Making appropriate use of them implies a challenge for users, families, and professionals. In the present study, the use that people with Autism Spectrum Disorders make of this sort of entertainment is specifically approached, and a series of recommendations are presented that take the characteristics of this population into account. A questionnaire was prepared ad hoc for data-collection purposes and administered to 67 people with ASD of different ages. The results reflect that videogames are a very popular type of game among people with ASD, are perceived as highly attractive and motivating and can help to lower anxiety levels. Among the undesired aspects, the physical problems arising from the use of videogames may be highlighted, and the problems of addiction and isolation that their continual use can provoke. The widespread acceptance of this type of leisure among people with ASD...

A bibliometric methodology has been used, based on a co-word analysis. The Web of Science database was chosen to perform the analysis of the literature. A unit of analysis of 1048 publications was configured. SciMAT software was used mainly for document analysis. The results indicate that the first studies appeared in 1992, but it was not until 2009 that the research volume increased considerably. The area of knowledge where these studies were compiled was rehabilitation, which marks the truly therapeutic nature of this type of study. One of the authors with the most studies, as well as the most relevant research, was Sarkar, N. Manuscripts were usually research articles written in English. It could be concluded that research in this field of study focused mainly on interventions carried out through the use of technological resources, with studen...

Hence the need to generate alternatives and policies for the development of a new model for active aging and the care of workers with intellectual disability. Our objective in this study is, therefore, to devise intervention measures that can minimize the effects of aging on the lives and the activities of these workers. Employing the Delphi technique, we assembled and consulted a panel of 8 experts with relevant expertise in the fields of intellectual disability; aging; employment and dependency. The panel included employers, families and workers with disability. Each expert reached a prior consensus over every response and contribution after having consulted four other experts with similar backgrounds, a consultative process in which a total of 40 experts participated. A total of 68 measures were proposed which correspond to three lines of action or key contexts: Firms and Organi...
