A self activated siphon, which is also known as self-siphon or self-priming siphon, is simulated ... more A self activated siphon, which is also known as self-siphon or self-priming siphon, is simulated using molecular dynamics (MD) method in order to study its behavior, especially why it has a critical height that prevents fluid from flowing through it. The trajectory of the fluid interface with air in front of the flow or the head is also fitted the trajectory modeled by parametric equations, which is derived from geometry construction of the self-siphon. Numerical equations solved using MD method is derived from equations of motion of the head which is obtained by introducing all considered forces influencing the movement of it. Time duration needed for fluid to pass the entire tube of the self-siphon, {\tau}, obtained from the simulation is compared quantitatively to the observation data from the previous work and it shows inverse behavior. Length of the three vertical segments are varied independently using a parameter for each segment, which are N_5, N_3, and N_1. Room parameters of N_5, N_3, and N_1 are constructed and the dependency of {\tau} to these parameters are discussed.
Tissue growth can be modeled in two dimension by only using circular granular cells, which can gr... more Tissue growth can be modeled in two dimension by only using circular granular cells, which can grow and produce child. Linear spring-dashpot model is used to bind the cells with a cut-off interaction range of 1.1 times sum of radii of interacted cells. Simulation steps must be divided into explicit and implicit ones due to cell growing stage and cell position rearrangement. This division is aimed to avoid simulation problem. Only in the explicit steps time changes is performed. Large cells overlap is chosen as termination condition of tissue growth. Only some cells configuration can growth to infinite time without encountering the large cells overlap. These configurations, and the other also, are presented in this work. Simulation time $t$ increases as cell number $N$ increases due to raise of interaction number between two cells. Linear and network configurations tend to aligned with different asymtotic function, that relates $N$ and $t$, for large $N$.

The reputation of Indonesia as a multicultural country has been recently debated, owing to the pe... more The reputation of Indonesia as a multicultural country has been recently debated, owing to the persecutions and attacks on members of Islamic minority Shiite and Ahmadiyya. The aim of this study was to examine the members of Muslim majority’s tolerance for Shi’a and Ahmadis and their support for governmental helping dedicated to these religious minority groups. Results (N= 384) demonstrated that minority helping was directly predicted by tolerance, which also mediated the effects of multiculturalism and continuation threat on the helping. We also predicted and found that national identification directly predicted multiculturalism and continuation threat, and these latter variables mediated the effect of the former variable on tolerance and minority helping. We discussed findings in this study in terms of both theoretical and practical implications. Keywords: minority helping; tolerance; continuation threat; multiculturalism; national identification
