The spectral composition of the absorbed, reflected and transmitted radiation depends on the colour of the nonwoven covering material. This study was conducted during 2018 at the Federal Scientific Vegetable Center, Moscow region to evaluate the effectiveness of various mulching materials. The nonwoven Agrotex TM mulching materials used were: white (W30), foil-clad (F), white-red (WR30), red-yellow (RY40) and yellow (Y20). The research was carried out on the Gourmet variety of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). The germination rate, productivity and accumulation of biologically active substances of lettuce depending on the type of covering material were determined. The total carotenoid, flavonoid and hydroxycinnamic acids content were higher with nonwoven materials, reaching an optimum with the RY40 material. On the contrary, the total monomeric anthocyanin content was lower when using Agrotex TM materials compared to the control. Agrotextile changes the spectrum of light incident on leaves, enhancing the regulatory effect, this explains the multidirectional change of antioxidant levels.

T... more Surface pesticide chemical treatment of leaf vegetables is forbidden in the Russian Federation. Therefore, the issue of protecting perennial wall-rocket from weeds and western black flea beetles (Phyllotreta pusilla Horn (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)) is relevant. The possible solution to this problem is the use of mulching materials in the cultivation of Diplotaxis tenuifolia (L.). In this paper, the effectiveness of various mulching materials was analyzed. This study was conducted during 2020 at in the Federal Scientific Vegetable Center, Moscow region. In the non-mulched control, the yield of greens for two cuts was about 1.2 kg/m 2. Foil mulch provided a yield for two cuts 1.9 kg/m 2 , black perforated-1.6 kg/m 2 , inverted foil-1.5 kg/m 2. For two cuts, the highest yield of greens (the earliest harvest) was obtained using yellow-black mulch-2.8 kg/m 2. Single damage to plants by this pest was revealed on foil and black perforated mulch. On black and yellow mulch, no damage to the leaves by crucifer fleas was noted. The mechanisms by which yellow-black mulch is most effective in repelling crucifer flea beetles will be the subject of further research.

However, this pigment is also synthetized by red types of Perilla frutescens, commonly known by its Japanese name "shiso". According to the increased demand on red Perilla leaves as food coloring agent, this article represents a brief review of perilla red form crops, as well as its properties and agronomic potential.

Field experiment was conducted during 2019 at the Federal Scientific Vegetable Center to evaluate the usefulness of non-woven covering material "TM AGROTEKS" on perennial wall-rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia) in the Moscow region. Results showed higher economic efficiency of using covering materials as they protect the crops against the damage caused by crucifer flea beetles. Moreover, the agrotextile TM AGROTEKS material allowed penetration of sunlight, air and moisture thus eliminating the time and labour consuming task of opening the covering material for ventilation. Overall, usage of nonwoven white agrotextile (B30) is good to maximize yield and the red-yellow (KZH40) material for enriching with antioxidant.

Natural rubber is produced by a rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). There are some other alternative crops also able to synthetize natural rubber and have good potential for chemical industry. This article presents a brief review of natural rubber market, as well as, its importance, properties, challenges and the major role of genetic engineering in production thereof. Our aim is to highlight the significance of kok-saghyz (Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin) as an alternative source of natural rubber. Hevea brasiliensis commonly known as rubber tree is the main crop used for natural rubber production. About 95% of hevea is cultivated in the countries located in the Southeast of Asia (ASEAN) and over 40 000 commercial products are manufactured from this species. There are 2500 other plant species [05], including the guayule (Parthenium argentatum), the Russian dandelion (Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin), the sunflower (Helianthus annuus), the Tau-saghyz (Scorzonera tau-saghyz) and the Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus), which also produce natural rubber. These plants do not produce in surplus as much as hevea and the yield is not enough to cover the cost of both collection and processing [2]. As a raw material, natural rubber (cis-1,4-polyisoprene) is a polymer produced by plants, with compared significance to water or oil. Natural rubber market is coordinated by the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC). This intergovernmental association includes representatives from eleven countries and represents 92% of the world natural rubber production.
