It must be studied in a context of a distinct rural character, marked by the production of wine and cereals, and surrounded by four big rustic villae, whose life began at the end of the 2nd century BC, and ended at some point between the 5th and 6th century of our era. These installations maintained their economic strength, even in the late period, undoubtedly due to its proximity to a main road network, as was the one joining Cástulo with Játiva, road that once was named as "camino de Aníbal". The wine press shows evidences of having been used after this initial period, particularly from the fifteenth century.
Keywords: wine press, roman archaeology, wine production, communication roads, Murcia.
