ACTIVIDAD ANTIMICROBIANA Y CITOTÓXICA DE EXTRACTOS Y FRACCIONES OBTENIDOS A PARTIR DE LA CORTEZA DE Caesalpinia spinosa Molina Kuntze, 2019
Caesalpinia spinosa (Molina) Kuntze, es una planta nativa de Suramérica, rica en metabolitos secu... more Caesalpinia spinosa (Molina) Kuntze, es una planta nativa de Suramérica, rica en metabolitos secundarios del tipo Galotaninos, con gran potencial como antioxidante, citotóxico y antimicrobiano evidenciado por estudios realizados en los últimos años a partir de extractos de sus vainas y frutos. Teniendo en cuenta que hace muchos años se viene luchando a nivel mundial por combatir la resistencia a los antimicrobianos y a los tratamientos antitumorales, que aproximadamente el 74% de los agentes antitumorales son derivados de productos naturales, y que un 80% de la población mundial ha llegado a utilizar plantas para el tratamiento de
diversas patologías, la búsqueda de alternativas terapéuticas de origen vegetal representa un escenario de gran interés y valor científico. En este contexto, el objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar la actividad citotóxica y antimicrobiana del extracto de la corteza de Caesalpinia spinosa (Molina) Kuntze y sus fracciones. Se realizó un estudio experimental en el que luego de recoger el material vegetal, se obtuvo el extracto etanólico y 4 fracciones: de petróleo, de diclorometano, acetónica y fracción etanólica. Se evalúo la acción antimicrobiana del extracto y cada una de las fracciones a concentraciones de 2, 4, 6 y 8 mg/Ml, mediante el
método de Kirby-Bauer de difusión en agar con pozos perforados, en cepas de Streptococcus faecalis; Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, hongos Aspergillus brasiliensis y levaduras Candida albicans. Se tuvieron como controles positivos los antimicrobianos establecidos y como control negativo el Dimetil Sulfóxido (DMSO). En paralelo se realizó la prueba de citotoxicidad en tres líneas celulares de cáncer: MDA-MB-231: Cáncer de mama, PC3: Cáncer de próstata y RKO: Cáncer de colon, a través del método del Bromuro de 3-(4,5- dimetiltiazol-2- ilo)-2,5-difeniltetrazol (MTT). Como resultados se encontró que la fracción acetona es la de mayor actividad contra las tres cepas bacterianas, ni el extracto ni las fracciones presentan actividad contra el hongo o la levadura. Las fracciones de baja polaridad presentaron mayor actividad citotóxica contra las tres líneas de células tumorales. Las fracciones que mostraron actividad citotóxica y antimicrobiana, presentan en su composición un alto contenido de sesquiterpenos y polifenoles, a los cuales, en otros estudios se les había asociado dichas actividades. Es importante continuar el estudio de la corteza de esta planta dada la riqueza en metabolitos secundarios con actividades citotóxicas y antimicrobianas que presenta.

[9,10, 12].En este caso, veremos cómo un paciente con adenocarcinoma de próstata metastásico luego deiniciar quimioterapia y en franco deterioro de su calidad de vida y de su estado nutricional;adquiere la infección por SARS-CoV2 con consiguiente neumonía y múltiples factores de malpronóstico, pero logra rápida recuperación sin secuelas al recibir un tratamiento con abordajedesde la biorregulación.
