Llano, sostiene que el hombre es ontológicamente un animal racional dependiente y las virtudes tienen, por tanto, una perspectiva social, pues nunca pueden darse en solitario.
El hombre al ser un animal con "Logos" (un ser dialógico): razón y palabra, tiene como fin la posesión de la verdad, la cual, para ser conocida necesita del diálogo.
Esta relación de dependencia encuentra su fundamento último en el amor de donación que es la tendencia racional que busca el verdadero bien: un bien común a todos, precisamente por el carácter relacional propio del ser humano .
Sobre esta base desarrolla el concepto de verdad práctica -reintroduciendo la dimensión cognoscitiva en la ética- y su conexión con la verdad política, permitiendo un diálogo político respetuoso de la libertad y de la riqueza de la diversidad.
Sobre esta base propone el "humanismo cívico" otorgando un nuevo enfoque de ciudadanía en "comunidades abarcables" donde es posible el desarrollo de la creatividad, la libre iniciativa, la responsabilidad y la participación activa dentro de la sociedad e incluso dentro de las instituciones. En estas "comunidades abarcables" se hace posible la practica de la virtud (establecer relaciones de amistad, servicio, cuidado, solidaridad), el reconocimiento del "otro" en su dignidad personal. "Estos son los elementos que constituyen los dinamismos reales para las verdades transformaciones sociales" señala Llano.
Todo esto permite atribuir un sentido propiamente humano a lo tecnoestructural a lo "no humano" y sostiene que para que lo humano oriente y fecunde a lo "no humano" es necesario pasar de la "eficacia" -como disposición objetiva de medios- a la fecundidad, entendida como el logro real de los fines. De esta manera se da una conexión entre las metas de tipo funcional y material con las esencialmente éticas, que tendrían un papel moderador y ordenador. Esto permite enfatizar que el último fin del hombre es un bien unitario y completo en la que se integran todas las metas del vivir humano.
Por tanto, para Llano, el hombre está finalizado, ejercita la alteridad abriéndose hacia una comunidad que es necesaria para el desarrollo de la propia identidad y, en consecuencia, para la práctica de la virtud.
