Eucalyptus extract-based pharmaceutical products are widely used because of their medicinal prope... more Eucalyptus extract-based pharmaceutical products are widely used because of their medicinal properties and their rich content of secondary metabolites, mainly phenolic compounds. This study aimed to maximise the extraction yield of these compounds and reduce the extraction duration by using a pulsed electric field (PEF) level of 6 kV/cm. The pulse width (T), number of pulses (n), and solvent concentration [C] were analysed. Several ethanolic extracts were obtained from the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus, and the content of total phenols, total flavonoids, and condensed tannins was measured through spectrophotometry. The results, obtained immediately after PEF treatment, revealed that for optimal values of the analysed factors, the total phenol content doubled and the flavonoid content increased significantly. However, PEF pre-treatment had no effect on the tannin yield. Moreover, optimisation was performed using the design of experiments methodology for identifying optimal values of ...

To do this, we depended on the archives of the forest fires balance sheets in forest conservation in the wilaya of Sidi Bel Abbes. The results show that the region lost an annual average 29,929 ha of its total forest area for a maximum of 11,817.5 ha recorded in 2012. On the other hand, the use of the fire severity index "FSI" by town and its cartography in which we used the map of administrative division of the study area as support, has divided the region into six classes according to the risk of fire, where the municipalities belonging to the forest of Telagh whose land is rugged represent the risk of fire is greater. Indeed, this situation category the study area among t...

Dunaliella salina is a microalgae endemic to these salty environments. Samples were collected and maintained as a pure culture of isolated Dunaliela salina. The aim of this study, is to establish a first reference state of the environments of the Salines of Arzew, and to find the best conditions for the development of this microalgae under experimental conditions. Two main ecological parameters (light and salinity) that influence the production of its biomass are studied. The site renowned for its richness in crustaceans of the genus Artemia salina and an important algal biomass, receives a large population of greater flamingo Phoenicopterus roseus. The water's salinity at the sampling site was 188 gr/l. The chlorophyll concentration and cell density were greater than 110 µg/l, and 2 × 10 6 cells/l respectively. The experimental results obtained demonstrated that the light intensity (18,000 lux) is the most influential parameter, followed by the number of days of algal culture. A cell concentration of 5.29 × 10 6 cells/l, is noted after 20 days of culture.

Albedinis (Foa), the causal agent of bayoud disease on date palm. We tested the inhibition of mycelial growth by dual confrontation method using these three bacteria species. A significant effect (P<0,05) of these microorganisms was observed on mycelial growth of 20 isolates of Foa, with the inhibition rates varied between 28,05 and 64,2%. The confirmation of this inhibition was observed by creation of inhibition zones in the Foa colonies confronted by these bacteria. The obtained results lead us to think about the possibility to apply these bacterial species as biofungicide in the control of Bayoud dis-ease in our contaminated groves and can be considerate as another alterna-tive fungicide in the efficient integrated disease management strategy.

Despite its socioeconomic importance and commercial interest across the country, there were only few studies focusing on its biology and ecology and no species development plan has been drawn up for now. Our study of the rose shrimp diet was based on the analysis of the faunistic composition of the ingested prey. Seasonal sampling was carried out at Béni Saf port (western Algeria) during 2018-2019, from landings from inshore trawling fisheries. A total of 641 individuals were analyzed, while taking account of males and females and size classes. Results of stomach content analyzes showed a wide range of benthic and endobenthic species. Crustacea are the preferred prey (F=77.69%), followed by Foraminifera, Annelida Polychaeta, and Mollusca with resp...

Values obtained from the water content of Ruta chalepensis L. shown a capacity of this element in the range of 54.47 % in the stems and 64.02 % in the leaves. Isolation of the wall tissue of Ruta chalepensis L. allowed to obtain (35.16±0.11) % of crude cell wall residue for leaves and (29.88±0.09) % for the stems. Moreover, the results of this study reveal a wealth of cellulose from an average of (69.6 ±0.54) % compared to other cell wall fractions; hemicelluloses with an average (12.1±0.6) % and pectins (6.74±0.25) %. The application of the "t" test of Student has to demonstrate a significant difference in the polysaccharide compos...

For this, four stations distributed in the South, South-East and North-East of the forest were chosen according to the presence of the geophytes, on which soil samples were analyzed and floristic surveys were carried out. Indeed, the Tulipa sylvestris was located in the southern part (station 3 only), soil results have shown that the species is associated with a sandy loam-sandy texture and a slightly alkaline pH, moderately rich in organic matter with a moderately calcareous soil. The floristic and statistical analysis by the correspondence factorial analysis (CFA) indicates an important richness of the order of 50 taxons subjected a strong therophytisation, an index of high perturbation, justifyin...

Secondly, a short-term test of ammonium sulfate toxicity on its vitality is carried out as its environment is permanently subjected to sulphate-laden waste. The work consists of subjecting the species to different salinities in order to produce a good yield in cysts, which once recovered, hatching and breeding is maintained until individuals reach the adult stage. A toxicological study using toxicity test (CL50) is then conducted to study the resistance of these adults with various concentrations of ammonium sulphate. The results obtained from the ecobiological study show a mean similar to the natural environment (p > 0.05) with a favorable concentration for the reproduction of the species at a salinity of about 75 g dm−3. The toxicity test indicates a CL50 eq...

In Tessala Mountain (Sidi Bel Abbes Country, North-Western of Algeria), the Ruta genus commonly known by “fidjel” is represented by two species: Ruta Chalepensis L. and Ruta Montana (L.) L. frequently used by local population in a traditional treatment. The water-distilled essential oils from this species yielded 7.23% and 6.104% for Ruta chalepensis L. and Ruta montana (L.) L. respectively. The essential oil of Ruta montana (L.) L. showed a strong antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains tested (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Mycobacterium kansasii ATCC 12478 and Mycobacterium vaccae ATCC 1548314) compared to Ruta chalepensis L. oils which have a moderate effect only on Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. Therefor, the antibacterial properties of the essential oils of Ruta Chalepensis L. and Ruta Montana (L.) L. are now well established through this study and therefore could justify their future uses in the treatment of nosocomial infections.
