In this regard, two random samples of 100 Helix aspersa each were collected from two sampling sites in the Southern area of Annaba during autumn 2009. The first one Sidi Amar is regarded as a highly polluted area by El Hadjar steel factory. The second sampling area called Dréan, 20 km far from the first one, is considered as a slightly polluted area. Morphometric parameters; Diameter and Height of Shell as well as Total Body Weight, Shell and Visceral mass were measured from all sampled snails. The sample of Dréan accumulates an average weight of 10.87 g while that of Sidi Amar accumulates 7.7 g. Data revealed remarkable differences between these parameters with a more accentuated growth in Dréan station. Indeed, applied t Student test on morphometric parameters showed highly significant differences between the two stations Sidi Amar and Dréan (p< 0.001). The proximity of steel pollution industry is a factor limiting the growth of Helix aspersa in the area of Sidi Amar.
