    Gempa Sumatera Barat 2009 banyak memberikan pelajaran penting, salah satunya adalah pembelajaran mengenai kegagalan struktur akibat perilaku soft story. Kegagalan soft story sering terjadi pada sistem struktur rangka beton di daerah rawan gempa yang disebabkan oleh distribusi kekakuan tingkat yang tidak merata. Respon seismik struktur rangka beton dengan perilaku soft story yang diperkuat dengan metallic damper dijadikan sebagai konsentrasi utama pada paper ini.     Many reports state how serious the problems associated with cracking in reinforced concrete (RC) structures worldwide. The cracking can cause damage and destruction to RC structures. The cracks are the damage to RC structures that require repair or replacement. Analysis of the damage level as early as possible on the RC structure cracks can reduce the greater impact and streamline the cost of repairing the concrete structure. Therefore, non-destructive testing (NDT) method is needed on the RC structure, namely: visual inspection technique. The image obtained from the visual inspection is then analyzed using image processing. After that, the concrete structure with cracks is tested for quality (compressive strength) using the rebound hammer technique with a rebound index. From the image processing and rebound index results, the damage from the cracks that occurred can be concluded so that the repairs become more effective and efficient.

    Banyak laporan menyatakan betapa seriusnya masalah yang berkaitan dengan retakan yang terjadi pada struktur beton bertulang di seluruh dunia. Yang pada akhirnya dapat menyebabkan kerusakan dan kehancuran pada struktur beton bertulang. Retakan adalah kerusakan pada struktur beton yang memerlukan perbaikan atau penggantian. Analisa tingkat kerusakan seawal mungkin atas retakan yang terjadi pada struktur beton bisa mengurangi dampak yang lebih besar dan dapat mengefesienkan biaya perbaikan pada struktur beton tersebut. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu metode pengujian tanpa kerusakan (non-destructive testing (NDT) method) pada struktur beton tersebut, yaitu: teknik inspeksi visual (visual inspection technique). Dalam penelitian ini, inspeksi visual dilakukan untuk menilai retakan pada atap beton gedung Thariq bin Ziyad, Universitas Abdurrab.

    Padang City, the most populated city in West Sumatra, is considered to have one of the world’s highest tsunami risks due to its high and close offshore thrust-fault seismic hazard, its flat terrain, and its dense population, which is mostly distributed along the coast. Current preparation for a tsunami in Padang focuses on developing early warning systems, planning evacuation routes, conducting evacuation drills, and educating the public about its tsunami risk. These are necessary, but insufficient, steps. The natural warning in Padang—strong earthquake shaking that lasts over a minute—will be the first and best indicator that a tsunami is likely to strike. It is estimated that even if evacuation begins immediately after the earthquake shaking stops, more than 100,000 inhabitants of Padang will be unable to reach high ground in less than 30 minutes—the expected time between the end of the earthquake shaking and the arrival of the tsunami wave at the shore.     This paper presents an evaluation study of the performance of reinforced concrete arch bridge structures under earthquake load. The study is aimed to investigate the seismic performance of Wreksodiningrat Bridge, located in the province of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This bridge is a three spans reinforced concrete arch bridge with a main span length of 75 m and two side spans with a length of 35 m, respectively. This study is a part of a large project carried out by the Ministry of Public Works to study the impact of the new 2016 Indonesia Seismic Design Code for Bridges (SNI 2833:2016).
