As experiências de tratamento no campo da saúde mental infantil com crianças com distúrbios graves, atualmente existentes no país, carecem de avaliações mais precisas de seus modelos clínicos e institucionais para examinar sua efetividade e propiciar a indicação de parâmetros mais detalhados para as exigências desse campo. Esta pesquisa se desenvolveu a partir do trabalho de supervisão dos atendimentos de crianças com distúrbios graves, orientados pela psicanálise Freud-lacaniana, desenvolvido em uma clínica-escola de uma Universidade particular de Psicologia da Bahia. Adotou-se como estratégia clínica a inclusão da escuta a pais e crianças, em sessões separadas, pelo mesmo estagiário de psicologia. Cardiac patients have decreased sanguine circulation, which can cause necro- sis. At the final stage of the disease, the member is amputated and as a consequence the body image and the identity are influenced. The psychological treatment is important in the promotion and maintenance of health, minimizing mental health consequences. The objec- tive was to verify the psychic experience of an hospitalized amputed patient through his expression on sandplay. It was used clinical interview, the drawing of human being figure and adapted sandplay technique. Themes related to the disease were expressed, as well as their meaning, fear of death, revolt against the illness and psychodynamic aspects of per- sonality. Results showed that the body symptoms were related with intense emotional con- tents at the psychic level.
