We propose a way to determine the DCF in the nematic state from simulations without any approximations, taking into account the dependence of pair correlations on the orientation of the director explicitly. Using this scheme, we evaluate the Frank elastic constants K1, K2 and K3 in a system of soft ellipsoids. The values are in good agreement with those obtained directly from an analysis of order fluctuations. Our method thus establishes a reliable way to calculate elastic constants from pair distributions in computer simulations.

The nematic DCF is determined without approximations from computer simulations, using a scheme that takes into account explicitly the dependence of the pair correlation on the orientation of the director. The method was validated by calculating the Frank elastic constants from the DCF through the Poniewierski–Stecki equations and comparing them with the values obtained from an analysis of order fluctuations.

If we remove all HTML tags from a web page, then this process can be considered as a text classification problem. However, this approach does not achieve high precision due to noisy contents, which always exist in regular HTML documents.

We describe a transformation between the probabilistic logic and the possibilistic logic as a suitable reasoning engine for medical expert systems. Further more, a structure of the system including knowledge base and inference of the system is proposed. An example of performance of the system testing the knowledge base on pulmonary tuberculosis diagnosis is illustrated.

We examine the issues involving data summarization by Attribute-Oriented Induction (AOI) on large databases using fuzzy concept hierarchies. Because a node may have many abstracts, the fuzzy hierarchies become more complex and vaguer than crisp ones. Therefore, we cannot use

The knowledge base of the system consists of a set of IF-THEN rules for diagnosis of tuberculosis where each rule assigns its weight in [0,1]. The inference machine will produce the final diagnosis as a total degree of confirmation and exclusion of tuberculosis diagnosis. This paper focuses on a description of the structure of TUBERDIAG. The system is developed in cooperation with doctors at the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, Hanoi. The system is written in Borland Delphi 2.0 programming language for Windows 95 and can run on PCs
