Nythamar H F De Oliveira
Nythamar Fernandes de Oliveira was born in Rio de Janeiro and is a University Professor at the School of Humanities, teaching Ethics and Political Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University in Porto Alegre (PUCRS), Brazil, since 1999. He earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1994), with a dissertation "On the Genealogy of Modernity: Kant, Nietzsche, Foucault" (publication by Nova Science, 2003, paperback 2012), under Ken Baynes, and holds a Master's degree in Philosophy from Villanova University (1990), under Jack Caputo, and a Master's in Theology from Aix-en-Provence (1987), with a thesis on Liberation Theology, under Christian Rouvière. Nita was a postdoctoral Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research, in New York (1997-98), under Dick Bernstein, and at Université Paris 8 (2022), under Charles Ramond, and was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship to conduct postdoctoral research in Human Rights (2004-05) at the University of Kassel (Germany) and the London School of Economics, under Professors Hans-Georg Flickinger and Catherine Audard respectively. Nita has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Toledo, OH, since 2007-08, when he was awarded the Latino Teaching Award. Nita de Oliveira authored 5 books and co-edited 11 volumes, having authored over 50 articles and supervised over 60 graduate students (both M.A. and Ph.D. equivalents) in AI Ethics, Neuroethics, Ethics, and Political Philosophy
